And I see this post and automatically think judgmental dickhead. I think that's a pretty fair assertion.
I'm Noticing A Lot Of Girls With Neon-Colored Hair Lately...

reasons I can relate to a possum:
-tired & unkempt, smells weird
-emotions ranging from “displeased” to “existential scream”
-no work ethic
-lies around looking dead when overwhelmed
-will eat trash & live amongst trash if left to own devices
-sometimes you feel bad and feed it a sandwich

I just think it's a little immature but to each their own yanno? If they don't want a professional job that's their choice lmao

I do it because it is nice to have control over something. I have a lot of issues when it comes to having no control over my life, including not even being allowed to have certain hairstyles until just last year. (an example would be going to get my haircut at walmart, my Mom saw and came in and took over what style I got then 'made up' for it by paying for it.) So, when I asked my boss if I was allowed, she said 'Sure- have fun!' and I just did it. For once I was happy about something about me.
People love seeing it at my job, little kids thinks it cool, women come up to it and comment on how they think its a lovely color (I heard stories on Tumblr of this happening to folks and I honestly didn't think it was true until it happened to me!), in fact I one time met a guy who was obsessed with purple and was excited to see someone with purple hair.
So yeah, attention-whoring or not, play nice.

I haven't had my hair very brightly colored in a few years, but I never did it for attention. I did it because I thought it looked super cute and it just went with my style at the time.

Warning: my lousy opinion
But tbh I think it only works for really "attractive" people. The only times I've seen crazy coloured hair irl the person with it has been overweight, had a bad hair cut, and just mehhh...

Oh yes, I really like it, and i've had all colours you can imagine....
But i'm really really really shy (social anxiety much) and I'm Always scared that people think it's just a rebellion thing to compensate my shyness or whatever. Also, I hated it that people Always remembered me because of my haircolour like 'YES ofcourse I knew who you are. You were the girl with the green hair'.
Now I'm back to blonde, also because of professional reasons.
But damn, I do miss it.

And yeah, it's a formal of self-expression. I don't like to draw attention, it's just being myself and I wish people weren't that 'obsessed' with it.
