I see a lot of posts on here asking for tips on how to ignore hunger.

For me, personally, I dont use tips because I just can not bring myself to eat when its really bad. Im not quite afraid of food but I will do all I can to not eat it.

So Im just curious if this is common, or if willfully and purposefully choosing to ignore physical hunger is more common

(Note: this is not meant to judge the validity of anyones ED behaviors. Im just curious about how common or uncommon this is)

If you come to my house and murder me I'll let you eat all the food in my pantry

I don't use tips, In a way I do ignore hunger though but I guess its a mix between being unable to brin myself to eat and not wanting to.

Like. I'm scared sh!tless of food one day and have difficulty eating an apple, and then another day I will be able to eat like 1200 calories relatively carefree so obviously Im able to bring myself to eat more on the latter.

So I'd say it's fear but also I will ignore hunger because I want to lose weight because Im not in recovery, not planning on chosing it anytime soon, nor am I fighting ED thoughts.

I feel strong hunger but I don't want to gain weight so I choose not to act on it.

I don't know if that counts as "too scared to eat" or "willfully ignoring".

Yes,and even pre-ED my family hasn't been the best off financial, so sometimes eating only dinner was how we paid rent on time.

I don't even remember what "tips" there were... ice flake cereal? But yeah, I do resist hunger by choice at times. I just don't eat and wait the feeling to pass.

Google reading this thread lol. Maybe Google is looking for tips and tricks!

third option. but it's gotten to the point where i can't recognize hunger as hunger. it's there, i get physical symptoms but i don't immediately associate it with eating.. which is dumb because i know it's hunger but at the same time i don't.

it's mostly just that i'm too scared to eat.

Yeah my hunger cues are jacked. I don't really eat according to whether or not I'm hungry; I eat depending on the time of day and how much I've already consumed. I have my own little system that I adjust from one day to the next but hunger doesn't factor into it unless I happen to be binging.

I don't use tips, I just don't like eating because it makes me feel like I'm fat/a glutton. Since I work almost every day, I usually only eat something minimal when I feel really lightheaded as solely a means of fuel (which is hella sad)

I'm at the point where I don't even associate hunger with eating which is kind of weird. Like unless I'm super excessively hungry but that doesn't happen much bc I don't usually fast, I usually eat small amouts spread out

I could vote for all of them. But usually the third option applies

Drink coffee/diet soda often though, but I never use tips/tricks that I read about

Hunger cues make no difference to me. It's my appetite I have trouble ignoring.

I usually don't care. I don't feel physically hungry very often so it's never been a problem to me.

where's the point in breathing when you lose a part of yourself with every breath you take...when you lose a piece of yourself every second, knowing you'll never get it back...when all you wish for is death because you just know you'll never be whole again and you'd rather die than live like that...broken...in pieces...dead inside yet still alive...where's the point in that?

I voted no because I can't bring myself to eat. Even though I do in a way "choose" to ignore hunger and see it as positive when I'm hungry, I don't exactly have to help myself resist food. I only eat in certain hours, so it's as simple as that, I just don't eat outside of them. It's just normal for me now so I don't really even notice my hunger. But it is there all the time.
