all the time i think, i would rather be physically ill. because being physically ill is something people can see, they can sympathize and understand, they can relate to you more because we all know pain. but being mentally ill no one understands unless they've thoroughly been around it or experience it themselves. it's very harsh and cruel the things that mentally ill people face from society tbh.

the way i see it, if you don't have your health, you don't have anything, and if you don't have your mental health, it's a pain that people judge you for and sometimes even mock you. so i'd choose to be mentally healthy. because no matter how sick you are at least you can have your thoughts and relationships and some pleasures that are very difficult to have when you're mentally ill.

anyways, interested to see your replies.

I'd choose physical health.

I see no point in being mentally healthy if I was too ill to do much.

Physically healthy. I am coping with life now with my mental illness. I will be able to have some sort of happiness as long as my body keeps up with me. I hate being dependent on others and do not want their pity. I have hopes and dreams I can't accomplish without keeping my body alive and kicking

I'm hurting myself with this, but I damage control as much as I can and I'm doing just fine.

actually a lot of chronic physical illnesses are invisible and nobody believes you, especially when youre fat and its a stomach problem, and so you develop an eating disorder to compensate for your fatness so people will believe you about being physically ill...

and then nobody believes you about being physically ill anyway because it turns out they just hate disabled people!!!!

but id rather be mentally healthy if i have to say something on-topic i guess

Physically. Guys won't mind dating someone with psychological issues as long as she's skinny and pretty. In fact, some may offer sympathy and will make those problems manageable. But no man cares about your emotional pain or loneliness if you're fat and ugly like me. So yeah.

Well it depends on the nature of the illness, like, do I have cancer and 3 months to live? Or am I just physically unhealthy the same way I am now?

Supposing it's not a severe illness, I'd rather be mentally healthy, as that would still help with longevity.

mentally. with poor physical health there's some medications that can help and i'm used to being in pain and functioning. with poor mental health the attached judgement, stigma, and the fact that what i have isn't necessarily curable just 'recoverable' through years upon years of therapy is... idk, it's too much to handle for me. i'd rather be physically fucked and mentally well than what i am now, which is a mix of both.

Although I guess if I knew tomorrow I guess I wouldn’t need faith

I guess if I never fell, I guess I wouldn’t need grace

i don't mean to be an asshole i'm sorry

I'd rather be mentally healthy, I've had depression and anxiety for so many years, I just want a break (the mental illness makes my body feel crappy anyway, tired all the time etc)

When I was at my LW, I was so fucked in the head that I couldn't even see my progress I had made. Now, at my HW and good mindset, I feel happier than being thin ever made me feel. It sucks not to be thin, but at least I can see my progress and I don't spend every waking minute wishing I was dead.

Who tf am I?

I play drums and piano, banging out beats to drown out the irregular ones of my heart

I sing until someone tells me to shut up, or my shower gets too cold, or until the stage goes dark

I play video games  all the time (I swear to god, if I hear "Hey, listen!" or "Leon help!" one more time...)

I quote movies in conversation to see if people get the reference and if they don't laugh when they catch on, I'm like "Why so serious?"

I love lifting weights and lovingly call myself the trap bar trap queen

I watch TV shows like I don't have 7 hours of homework to do because I suck

I fall down a lot so instead of crying I just laugh it off and joke about tripping balls AND down the stairs

My stomach growls loudly in class so I do that thing where you shuffle papers loudly like 3 times a day

I laugh at my own jokes because I'm funny as hell

I lie to everyone, including myself, because that's easier than admitting I'm not okay.

Feel like these are far too linked to separate. If you're mentally unwell, you can screw up your body pretty bad through neglect or self-harm. If you're physically unwell, it can cause you to be clinically depressed and have low self esteeem.

If I have to choose, mentally well. The question is really hard to answer.
