Newbie here. Decided my first post should be related to the reason I turned to this forum in the first place: extreme weight loss on Adderall. I've always struggled with my weight / body image since I was a little girl, and now that I've finally hit my mid-20's, I figured I should try to get as close as possible to my UGW while I still have the freedom / metabolism to do so. About few months ago, I was prescribed 20mg Adderall IR twice a day and it seriously changed my life. At the time of prescription, I had ballooned back up to 162 lbs. (not my heaviest, but very close). I've lost 15 lbs. since.

I'm a perfectionist by nature, so I've spent every waking moment since being prescribed perfecting how to get the most out of the medication without becoming addicted or having to experience those nasty side-effects everybody talks about. Wanted to make this post to see 1) if anybody has had any long-term experience losing weight on Adderall as well and 2) if anybody would be interested in my list of tips on HOW TO use Adderall to not only lose weight but achieve a better mindset while doing so.

Can't wait to hear from everybody!

I used to abuse Adderall (no script) and other meds/speed all the time. I was so irresponsible with it back then though. Yeah sure I'd lose weight like mad, but I was dehydrated, sleep-deprived, dizzy, paranoid and my temperament was akin to an exposed wire in the rain.
I used to go 3 or 4 days without sleeping or eating. And when you take a high enough dose you just want more and more. Not good. The productivity and focus was a major bonus, being a perfectionist myself. Funnily enough I was recently diagnosed with ADHD. Go figure.
However as I've gotten older, I've learned to take care of my body, as I'm not getting any younger and I'm pretty sure all the drugs I abused combined with my eating disorder contributed to a newly discovered heart murmur- I'm not even 20 years old.
I've slept a total of 2 1/2 hours since I'm still coming off Addy I took yesterday afternoon lol (that's another thing, try to take it before noon if possible, you won't be able to sleep I guarantee it)
I make sure to constantly stay hydrated and to not over-exceed a certain amount of mg's or over-exert my body (absolutely NO exercise! your body temp. rises and your heart is already going twice its normal rate while you're on it.) Also, taking .5 Klonopin half an hour before dosing takes the edge off the usual side effects (anxiety, muscle clenching, etc.) and I take another .5 an hour before I plan to finally rest. Xanax works better and quicker though if you really need to come down quick and hard. I also try to skip a day or two in between usage unless I really need to take it consecutively.
Lastly, what's the point of being skinny when you look like death? (Happened to me...I was uncomfortably boney, my skin was sallow, dry and pale, my eyes were dark and sunken in, my muscles were weak and my brain was foggy- I had no emotion and was drained of energy, that, or extreme depression, major anxiety or agitation/irritability when I was crashing.) No matter how hard it already is with ED thoughts and the appetite suppression of the drug, try to get some form of vitamins, minerals, electrolytes and antioxidants into your system. If you've already inadvertently fasted (like I am right now, admittedly), make up for it the next day. I cannot stress enough that to get the most out of this medication, which really is a lifesaver for many people, including myself, GET SLEEP and ENOUGH NUTRITION AND WATER up in this bitch. Ever since then, I have had little to zero negative side-effects if I follow my steps above. I am more focused on important things such as uni, my personal goals, and socialising versus taking it with the wrong mindset of obsessive thoughts and actions with the main goal to "stay tweaked" and/or "lose weight". Eventually the extreme appetite suppression should diminish over time anyways. So having the habits already ingrained makes maintaining more realistic. Then again my body has always been extremely sensitive to substances.
Best of luck to you and anyone reading this!

If you're not against abusing amphetamines for weight loss then I have a better alternative. Adderall only makes you lose your appetite and that's not going to last. Muscle takes more calories to maintain, therefore when on a deficit, the body will eat the muscle first in order to use less of the nothing you're trying to give it. This is how "skinny fat" happens. And amphetamine related heart attacks.

Ephedrine not only suppresses appetite but focuses the body's processes on expending cellular heat and burning fat while preserving muscle. Paired with caffeine, ephedrine effects and caffeine effects are boosted by each other giving you more energy and burning more fat. Aspirin is a blood thinner that I pair with the EC stack every other time to 3 times, as ephedrine can cause blood clots.

Both adderall abuse and ECA stacking are harmful to your heart and mind, but one is a medication that a lot of people need but can't get because of abuse. So stop it. If you need it for your mind, then take it like you're supposed to. If you don't need it enough to use it well, stop taking it. Ephedrine can be found in OTC breathing medication. Caffeine pills are everywhere.

Just my thoughts. I'm not telling you to hurt yourself, but if you're going to do it anyway, there's more than one way and both have ups and downs and you shoulf be informed... but I would choose the way that doesn't add to an already existing medicinal problem.

been on adderall and vyvanse for 14 years and got back on 3 days ago, long term user and I am prescribed

what I know from my experience and my body, is that it just helps you concentrate more on other stuff rather then thinking about food

you might get bored but you won't suppress that boredom by eating.

Since I switched to vyvanse its not that much different expect it's not as addicting as adderall.

was always healthy weight around 120-130

when I started vyvanse I was 113-120

It would fluctuate but I maintained a small frame.

this is what I did

I don't take my meds on the weekend, could be sat or sun, or both days or when I worked on my day off.

I never had the problem of my dosage wearing off and having to increase.

I ate breakfast always and it differed

manly because if I don't have anything in my stomach on the meds then I'd vomit

Vyvanse last longer so I don't take it past 10am

adderall is a little different so you will find out or keep a log when you feel it wear off on what times you want to best utilize it

drink lots of water

keeps you full and keeps you hydrated because you will get migraines/headaches if you don't sleep well or drink enough water.

make sure you eat, if you were worried about losing weight then find something you enjoy that's low calories that you can eat a heap off without gaining

my fav is watermelon 100grams of that is only 30calories

and its 90% water and packed with nutrition

so I eat and I even intake water right there

2 birds 1 stone  :)

another thing that I went through

is that fast foods gross to me I can taste the salt on it when I'm on my meds

and just it tastes artificial

and I rarely ate red meat and when I did it was small and if I tried to eat more I got nauseous

if you do like these things if you just stop for like a month or longer and try it your body won't like them

I felt sick after having mcdonalds when I didn't eat it forever.

I also don't eat after 8 and I try and sleep before 10pm

if you have problems sleeping try some tea or mild sleeping pill.

Hope it helps if you have anymore questions let me know. :D

You know our love would be tragic
