Okay, I don't know if there's anything I can do about it, but does anyone have any ideas on what to do about loose clothing?

Basically, around December I bought my prom dress. Size 8 UK / 4 USA, and it fit perfectly, just a tiny bit loose, just enough to be comfy. But now it's like... significantly too big. I don't want anyone to know it's too big, I can't exchange it, and I'm sure as hell not gonna gain any weight for this.

Any tips??? Should I just deal with it and tell people it fits perfectly? There's like 2 inches of empty space at my waist.

Have it taken in a bit? Or find a belt that wouldn't look tacky with it (so one that's made purely for fashion and not to actually hold pants up)

Or safety pins. I've safety pinned clothes that otherwise would've looked weirdly baggy or fallen down

I can't go to a tailor because I'd have to ask my mum, and she'd be ragin if she knew I'd lost enough weight to make it this loose ):

Honestly I think I'm just going to have to deal with it. It's a convenient shape that if I don't hold the fabric against myself, it just looks like I fit it and there's no loose space inside. Like, it's kind of a set shape, so there's no baggy bits or whatever. It's just a little uncomfortable and I feel like the straps aren't quite secure hahaha. But it will be fine!! Better with a padded bra or something, probably.

Thanks for your advice though <3

Yesterday I tried on all my shorts, realized they were all so comically big that neither belt nor safety pin fix would work, laughed maniacally, and put on the one thing that fits.

On one hand, that's the goal.... but on the other hand, I'm so poor, I can't afford new clothes!! )))): The struggle is real!

When is your prom?  If you have enough time, maybe you can sell some stuff to friends or find some other way to get money to take it in to a seamstress yourself.

It's in two weeks. Money isn't the issue, I have a bit of money myself, but it's just the hassle, really. My parents are super vigilant. They'd definitely know.

Ah, that sucks.  Is it in a place where they wouldn't notice it missing?

If you could post a picture of the dress, that might help me get some other ideas.  I'm sure anyone else reading this would also like to see it, lol.

Unfortunately there's just no way to get it altered.

But haha, of course I'll post a picture! Luckily, it is a shape that it being loose around my waist probably won't be noticeable.

I have the exact same problem right now with all my clothes but especially with the dress for my graduation party

a padded bra can be a lifesaver

or there is a specific type of tape for clothes on skin (sorry don't know how to name it)

and wow, the dress is beautiful

you wouldn't care and neither would I.

Thank you!! <3

I think a padded bra is my best bet. It will make the dress a bit tighter at my chest at least! I have a lovely blue padded bra so I'll probably go with that one.

Yeah, that shape would still look good if it's a loose. You can add a belt if you want, but the dress is beautiful as is.

Hope you have fun at your prom! c:

Thank you!! <3 Tbh I just tried it on again and you can't tell it's loose from looking at it, if someone touched my sides they could probably tell but I hope people won't assault me without consent lmfao

A thin black belt would look really good with that dress. Looking at it, a belt or something to break up the top and skirt could make it extra nicer. (:

What about saying its for another superficial modification? say you "dislike" a detail you dont care for, or that you want to add "x" thing to make it look better. Go alone and ask for boith changes?

With the dress you posted you could add a sash belt too.

If the fabric aint to thick you can ven try making small modifications by yourself...
