I was eating under 1200 for about 3 months and working out 3-5 times a week and i lost 13 pounds. Since I started a lower diet (500-ish daily) I've lost 5 more pounds. But i have less body fat to lose, so it's taking longer because I don't like fasting...

800 calories seems to maintain my weight for me. That maybe because of my height though, and I'm still in the healthy weight range.

If you're overweight or near it then 800 calories would probably have you losing at a steady pace if you weren't exercising.

Make sure you're getting the right type of calories, if you stuff your face on the good stuff you might not even meet that 800 calorie goal.

Although I have decreased my cal intake now ( I still don't exercise) I was having approx 1000 cals a day with no exercise and lost 1 stone in 5 weeks (was 156 lbs to start with now 145 lbs) I'm 5ft 10 I am now hoping to lose a bit faster. That's just my experience! Good luck xx

A few years ago, I lost about 3 lbs a week eating 800 a day. It depends on your starting weight and metabolism.

The past 4 days i have been eating between 700-900 calories and I have lost 2 pounds so far (and I spent the last week before maintaining and the week before binging so I did gain weight) so you can lose weight but obviously you lose more quickly by eating less.

I am male-bodied and fat so my base metabolic rate is probably higher than yours, but eating 800-1000 calories a day with very little exercise has helped me lose about 5 lbs a week on average.  As a general rule, if you calculate your BMR (the number of calories you burn a day just by being alive) and eat fewer calories than that, you're going to lose weight.  You can increase the amount of weight you lose by burning more calories through exercise, or restricting calories even more.

Different BMR calculators will give you slightly different results because things like age and sex are figured into it in different ways.  Here's the one I use:  http://www.bmi-calcu...bmr-calculator/

The fastest way to lose weight is to restrict to about 300, although as the others say, it's different for everyone, and do as much aerobic exercise as possible ^-^

I've been restricting to 800 cal for about a year and a half. I lost 17 kg (37 lbs) all together. I exercise 2-5 times a week and burn anywehere between 200 to 700 cal. keep in mind that I am old(er) so it goes slower for me.

Thanks guys!!! i have been slowly restricting my calorie intake..which has in turn made me not have so many cravings anymore, which is awesome. so i think 800 calories a day would be good just because i need to keep my energy up for school and stuff like that. Just worried about how every website says DONT EAT UNDER 1200 CALORIES....im like...come on..how is that going to work???? but then again i dont know much about this stuff. i need to exercise more though....how do you find the energy?!

I am an 18 year old female, and I am 4 feet 11 inches tall. I started using "MyFitnessPal" to control my caloric intake. I started this app after weight gain due to birth control. I was originally 116 pounds, then I went up to 128 as my highest weight. I wanted to lose that weight off. The app calculated that for a sedentry life style, I needed to eat 1200 calories a day to lose weight. I began restricting myself like crazy and would be way below the 1200 calorie goal. My lowest calorie intake for one day was 195 calories, my highest was 700. Over 3 months I lost 22 pounds. When I went to the doctor I was 106. I am fine with that weight and I am trying to maintain this weight with 1500 calories a day. But I am so used to restricting myself that I can never reach over 1200 calories even when I really push myself, so I keep losing more and more weight. I also occasionally take aloe vera laxatives to drop a quick few pounds of waste.

Listen to this person!! I went to low when I was still at a bmi of 20-21 and I've plateaued for 5 months! Stay at higher calories until you stop losing, then slowly bring them down. I went down from 1400 to 500 to 300 too fast and it screwed me up

Ah we're the same height and I want to get to your weight,

I've been plateaued at 125 for 5 months and am thinking it's because I restricted to much too fast, and am planning on eating 600-800 a day from now on.

I work out about an hour a day (intense cardio mixed with strength). Did you do any exercise to get to your CW?
