Something similar happens to me, though I've had food force it's way up before.

It's like i eat, then this insulin like liquid-stuff comes back up and I'm forced to spit it out.,

something similar happens to my grandfather but he had stomach surgery.....

It vaguely reminds me of verping (Vomit+burping). Unintentional and awful. It occasionally happens to me if I overeat D:

Yeah sometimes happens to me but not all the time

I never knew this was a thing. This has happened to me ever since I was 10, I've always just put it off as some weird symptom of bulimia.

THIS IS AN ACTUAL THING? I've had this problem for forever, it's how I learned to purge... leading to bulimia. huh. weird.

i saw this episode on tlc (not sure what show) of a lady who once choked on a piece of meat and almost died, so after that she could never eat solids. she would eat them but she would kinda do a spit/chew thing, but if she tried to swallow
it, she would just involuntarily throw it back up. sad.

I think it was freaky eaters.

Man, I do this with everything I eat, my dad says it's because I eat too fast (which I do...)

I do this ALL THE FUCKING TIME! I never knew it had a name. Could it be because I've been purging for 6 years?

I read about this a while back and they said that purging for a long time can cause this reflex but I'm not 100% certain on the credibility

Why rechew it again though? Why not spit it out?

Yeah I've had this on a number of occasions but as soon as its at the top of my throat my knee-jerk reaction is to swallow it as fast as I can, the same way you react if you throw up a little bit in your mouth by accident. I can't imagine it'd be too nice to chew?

Then again maybe I've only experienced GERD. Im mainly prone to it after a binge (especially if I bend over lol) and/or when I've eaten something I'm intolerant/sensitive to.

Has anyone had any success taking omeprazole to help this? (I think it neutralises stomach acid or something).

I never knew this had a name, is it something doctors can pick up on? I've had it for as long as I can remember, and about 5 minutes ago I just involuntarily threw up my last mouthful of water onto my keyboard :( Is it treatable?

I thought this was a consequence of purging too much, had no idea it was an actual disorder.

I have this, developed it a few years ago.

Here's an interesting and accurate study about it: http://www.jpgmonlin...st=Papadopoulos

I think I may have a "mild" case of this im constently doing this, but I didn't know there was an actual name for it I just thought it was an effect from having bulimia for like 2 years off and on. It usually happens when i drink a lot of fluid after eating solids.
