Has anybody here read the book Skinny Bitch? I know it was a hit with Victoria Beckham and I've read it a few times myself when I need the motivation to eat cleaner. I've gone vegan a few times but always had trouble lasting past 4 months.

What's really great about it is the way it's written. It's written to be very tough love, in your face, and underneath it all is the message that the current food system isn't working for anyone. Its bad for the environment, it's needlessly cruel to animals, and it creates food that's bad for us too! It also does a very good job of shedding light on corruption in the government regulation of our food supply.

They also have a companion book of recipes called Skinny Bitch in the Kitchen.

I know you can get it as a pdf online; if you can't find it message me, and I might be able to email it to you for free. :D

I've read it multiple times and I love it! It is defiantly a very motivational book and gives you great information, I find it to be very comforting in a way as well.

I've read it  and seriously considering doing it again. I lost a lot of weight with it but after a while it was hard keeping up with it on a college budget :) But it was so great!! I think I might start it again next week.

As a vegan that makes every effort to eat clean, local and organic it definitely seems like a book I should read.  Thanking you for the suggestion!

I hope OP doesn't mind me posting, but I found a PDF for download. I uploaded it to ge.tt. It all appears to be there and in working order, but I haven't had time to read it yet.

Here's the link, where you can read it online or download it.

Just want to add to the 'hallelujah chorus'. Thank you for the link, amhq!

I was vegetarian from 13-24. Vegan 24-29. Omnivore 29-32 (yeah. Money was crazy-tight. I ate what I could get my paws on). Vegetarian 32 (now, since January).

Feels so much better mentally and physically to be back to vegetarian, but I'm looking to kick it up a notch. Was looking for a book like this. Okay. I lie. I was looking for this book, having heard about it a few years ago.

Thanks again for the link and thanks to effyskinny for getting the ball rolling!

Never read the book but the recipes are awesome. I'm not vegan anymore, mostly because I couldn't afford it, but I love love love veggies. I don't like meat at all, but I can't say no to string cheese lately for some gross reason. i'm lactose intolerant and it makes me sick, but I still eat it.

Veganism is actually really cheap if you avoid the processed specialty products and eat simple, healthy foods like rice, beans, and veggies... much cheaper than meat and cheese!

Agreed. Also, buying veggies in season is usually cheaper.
