When I realised I can't make myself vomit, I found that I can't actually bring solid bits of food back up into my mouth and just spit them out. But now I cant really control it anymore. I can feel as it comes up my throat, however I kind of have to push it from my throat into my mouth. Otherwise I can just feel the lump of food sitting in my throat (make sense?) and instead of re chewing the bits I just spit them out.

Is this rumination ?

Rumination is bringing food back up and rechewing. You just said you don't rechew.

It sounds like acid reflux.

The food brought up doesn't taste at all bitter or acidic and I don't experience any other symptoms of acid reflux like heartburn, so I don't think it could be that

Rumination is bringing food back up and rechewing. You just said you don't rechew.

Rumination syndrome isn't always re-chewing food. Rumination varies. For some people they ruminate small quantities of food and they re-chew it and swallow it.Other people will ruminate small quantities of food and spit it out. Other people ruminate very large amounts of food and therefore have to expell it, they cannot re-chew and swallow it.

When I realised I can't make myself vomit, I found that I can't actually bring solid bits of food back up into my mouth and just spit them out. But now I cant really control it anymore. I can feel as it comes up my throat, however I kind of have to push it from my throat into my mouth. Is this rumination ?

It does sound like it could potentially be rumination syndrome. Everyone's symptoms do vary in the severity as well as how it affects them. I understand what you mean about the being unable to control it now. I have an issue that's similar to rumination syndrome where I cannot keep food down. At first it started as I'd burp and everything I'd eaten would come back up but to an extent I would have control over it and could cope with it. As time has gone on with this issue I now have no control over it. It is extremely painful and distressing for me to keep food down. I become very bloated to the extent I look several months pregnant. I also end up in a lot of pain and end up feeling very nauseous. It's really difficult as it feels like you've completely lost control over it. My problem results in most of what I eat coming back up in a one which means that I cannot re-chew ad swallow food as it's such big quantities so I have to get rid of it.
