Hi, I haven't seen anyone mention this before. I was just wondering if anyone else rides horses for exercise and enjoyment? It burns a lot of calories and so does cleaning stalls.

Me me!! Glad to have found another!! I ride around 4 times a week on my pony. I've been riding for around 8 years now. Honestly being in the saddle makes me forget every single one of my troubles. My horse is my lifeline ❤️
Side note: around how many calories are burned when riding? I'm mainly a jumper but I do loads of flat work between jump schooling, so I guess it probably varies depending on whether I'm doing dressage or jumping...

I do! I do three day eventing with my gelding, we've been conditioning a lot right now trying to get in shape for our first event which is on April 29th. My average ride(flat work with some jumping) burns about 300 calories(45 minute ride), but a conditioning ride for us(canter and trot intervals in two point) burns about 500 calories in 45 minutes with my average heart rate being around 140s.

Yes, I do! I was at my lowest weight when horses were part of my career path. :) It was effortless basically.

I really miss having horses in my life, I just can't afford it now.

I ride!! I've been riding for 10 years now. I actually haven't been on a horse in almost 2 months since something happened and I lost all my confidence. never been scared to get on a horse. now im terrified to even sit on my big babysitter that I trust putting 2 year olds on.

I love horses!

I used to ride around 10 years ago when I still lived in middle-of-nowhere. I knew someone who had the gentlest, nicest horses ever. I gave them carrots and hugs

Now I live in the city and I'm broke as fuck, so I'd probably burn more calories if I ride my bike to the nearest horse riding place, haha

I used to ride before I joined university. Now I lack time and money._.

But with half a day spend with walking horses, riding and cleaning the paddocks I was at my lowest weight effortless. Also I was happy, well trained and healthy as fuck. Miss it._.
