So ive always measured my hips right at my hip bones, and accross where the top of my bum is, but i saw a girl measuring around the bottom of her hips and across her bum, which would be the right place to measure to get your hip measurements?

i do both; i record the widest part across the bones as my hip measurement, and the fattest part across my butt as the butt measurement

You have to measure around the thickest part of your bum (buttocks) and parallel to the floor.
Me and my girlfriend measured ourselves yesterday, maybe I will post some pics.
My bum is at 41.5 inches (105.5 cm) and hers is at 33 inches (84 cm)...
