First off, a heartfelt welcome for joining our community. We're glad you found us and look forward to your contribution. In order to make this community pleasurable for all involved, there are some important things you should know. Please take a few minutes to review this material:
1. Why can't I access chat/member profiles/etc ?
As a new member, you will find that some of the site functionality is unavailable to you. This is to prevent spammers spamming our members. Don't worry - once you start contributing to the board, you will quickly be elevated to be a full privilege member and all the site functionality will be available to you. This is all done automatically. Simply go make a few posts and you'll see your restrictions melt away! Make sure your first few posts do not contain any hyperlinks or smileys/emojis otherwise the system will reject it as spam.
You have one additional restriction for your first day of membership: You can only make 3 posts and no more than 1 post every 10 minutes. Sorry about this but we have to stop spammers from flooding the board. Go ahead and make your introductory post, browse around, enjoy and by tomorrow your restrictions will be lifted!
2. An all Inclusive community
Our site encompasses a wide range of members who may or may not be "pro-ana". The site is a welcome support community for those who are suffering from an eating disorder, for those who are in or trying to recover, or for those who are looking for general weight loss. Please be sensitive to this fact and appreciate that we have members here all with different goals.
3. Be on the lookout for spam or spammers
Never respond to a chat, PM, status update or forum posting asking you to contact them offline or via an external email address until you get to know that person. Verify the members post count or reputation. Spammers love registering and then trying to have you remain in contact "off the site". If you see any spam, use the "report" link in the post to notify us immediately.
4. Introduce yourself
Hop on over to the Community Introduction thread and make your first post by introducing yourself. See, you're half way to getting the restrictions lifted already! And please, never mention your real full name in the public forums. Again, WELCOME!
5. Be Smart
Remember noone on this board (or MPA itself) is diagnosed to treat illnesses or destructive behavior. Nobody want's you to get worse. And while the board helps many, you should request to delete your account if you believe this forum is not helping you. It is a place for people who suffer, not a place for those wanting to come here to "get an eating disorder".
6. Know the rules
Please remember to make an effort to read the rules. Most of them are fairly simple and aren't much more than common sense. They are to help create a safe environment for everyone so please have a read and get acquainted with how the site work.
