I'm also considering this for next week. I'm needing to up my protein anyway preparing for surgery and physical therapy so if I get any good results, I'll post back.

please do so, if you don't mind. :)

i start today, aiming for a week.

i'll allow myself up to 3 shakes per day (109kcal per shake - 1 scoop with water). and will exercise as well (30 min circuit training + 45 min crosstrainer).

You won’t last long at all exercising that much while consuming that little. 327 cals a day you’d lose at a rate of knots just sleeping 24/7!!!

well, i think it depends..

i did it before and it was hard, but doable. i am low restricting for over 5 weeks now again, so i am already used to a low intake. i guess to each their own. i am old enough to know what i should/should not do.

yes! i've done it many times over the years and lost a lot of weight. i'm back on it again now.

it's a little difficult but i've always liked the results. the main problem for me is getting sick of the shakes after a couple days.

my mom once lost 110 pounds in 4 months from having four shakes a day at 100 cals. she did this with a clinic under medical supervision.

i don't recommend shakes only but it's possible to lose weight rapidly. imho a drawback is that you are much more likely to develop gallbladder issues.

i usually go a little higher with the calories (3 at 200 each) and have a small salad.

i highly recommend getting shakes that contain a lot of vitamins, because they'll help with some of the deficiencies and sustain you for longer.

that being said, i really do enjoy protein shake diets and i always end up going back to them hahah

I've been playing with the idea of doing this the past week or so. I've been liquid fasting with protein shakes. I didn't know this was an official thing.

I did a vega and almond milk fast for a few days before, and I got so bloated and gassy. I think I actually gained weight from the constipation and water retention. Wouldn’t do it again, but it was all I felt safe with at the time.

It helps me eliminate B/P episodes. I did it with a daily intake of 1,200 calories/daily for a week. When I stopped I slowly added in one solid food, but kept my caloric intake the same. This was a year ago. I lost the same amount of weight I would have eating solids(but I didn't B/P)so I saw more progress. Chewing triggers a B/P mode when I have been stuck in it. It is a great way to get protien and get out of a binge phase.

none of what we do is particularly "good" for our bodies.  If it's short term, in normal people, it's a good strategy as long as they don't pick up bingeing after.  If it gets us out of b/p mode, idk it's probably better than that.  BUT since many of our hearts/kidneys are already taxed from everything else, it's probably more dangerous for us.

But, whateva! I always had a protein shake for breaky, big salad for lunch, and something with other people, another salad, or another shake for dinner.  Idk, I like it for my mind but I lose too much weight sometimes like that.

I was thinking about doing a liquid diet and incorporating protein shakes as well high protein plant milks.

I like weight lifting so I'm thinking this would be worth a try!

The article above is definitely a good motivator :)

terrible for your kidneys.

our bodies aren't meant to only digest one single macronutrient + you'd lack many essential vitamins and minerals.

I've done protein bar monos if that's similar enough. I found it very satiating, more so than normal high restriction. Only for a few days though. Don't remember what I lost from it specifically but I definitely remember thinking it had been a good idea and repeating it a few times so.
