It has less to do with bmi and more to do with malnourishment. I’ve lost my period with a bmi of 20 before when I was engaging in more extreme behaviour, and I’ve gotten as low as bmi 16 without losing my period at all, but I wasn’t as extreme with restricting and exercise.

Thank you, I was confused about when people lost their periods but I understand now.

At a normal BMI! And I met severely underweight people in the hospital who still got theirs.

What did you do to get it back?
I am currently a little bit less than 20 on the BMI scale and I already lost mine.

I’m not really sure, honestly. It was almost 20 years ago. After I lost my period I continued to lose and got down to bmi 13, and then I went IP, directly followed by residential for almost a year. My period came back after I had been in residential for about 3 or 4 months, and I was complying with the meal plan and was on limited activity.

I tend to lose mine very quickly once I start restricting no matter what my BMI. I actually should have already had mine this month but I haven't so I think it's gone again.

This is going to sound insane, but I started mine but have been restricting and noticed the flow was SUPER light and finished after 2.5 days when I'm usually on it for about a week. I think restricting plays a huge part.

Mine is generally more so related to my activity level and fat consumption. When I first became sick, I tended to eat a wider variety of foods from every food group, just in smaller portions. So my period stuck around until I got below a BMI of 17ish. But with every relapse, I became more restrictive. So now the only time I get it back is when I'm in treatment because I'm sedentary and I consume a normal (lol) amount of fat. I usually loose it again the second I discharge, though. I haven't gotten my period outside of treatment in 8 years.

I’m at a BMI of about 19.7, and I haven’t been getting them for a few months (so from about a BMI of 21?). I have been losing weight pretty quickly though, so that’s probably why.
