Yeah, I try to express myself in more visual ways. Painting, writing, doodling, gluing shit together. It's a cathartic release for all of my stupid emotions.

However, I always thought that was the glamorized version of ED and that the majority were studious, logic leaning perfectionists.

I was never strict about grades, never good at math, not the cookie-cutter perfectionist you hear about when discussing anorexia. So, more likely than not, there's a total balance. It's more about control than expression I suppose.

def something I've been thinking a lot about lately, I'm a graphic design/visual arts student and I've noticed a lot of girls (not so much guys) with ed behaviors in my classes and in general that kinda stuff being more common than in other schools I attended.

I used to do art pretty much every day, and I used to do creative writing almost daily. AN-R here!

“What is good? All that enhances the feeling of power, the Will to Power, and the power itself in man. What is bad? All that proceeds from weakness. What is happiness? The feeling that power is increasing-that resistance has been overcome. Not contentment, but more power; not peace at any price, but war; not virtue, but competence."

Yeah it's actually a known fact that a lot of people with anorexia are creative and intelligent. There's a reason why they made Eli an artist in to the bone.

I'm a painter and photographer myself.

I’m a writer and musician. I think there is a general connection between mental illness and the arts. I don’t know any “normal” people in my local arts scene, we’re all fucked up in some way.

This is so true. There is a huge connection. Many creative people suffer from depression. It’s a well known fact. I’ve been a musician all my life. I think creative people are sometimes too sensitive. This can lead to the hurt and traumas we pick up and internalize along the way of life. It was a big factor in my developing anorexia. It’s not surprising that lots of people here are INFJs on the Meyer Briggs test.
