I'm not sure whether or not what I am experiencing would be considered binge eating disorder or anything, but a friend brought it up and so I got curious.

At the end of the day, I've restricted calories so I feel really good, but then its like, I HAVE to eat. Once I ate a big bowl of spaghetti, a burger with cheese, two hot dog buns with butter on it, spoonfuls of nutella and peanut butter, and more cheese. I felt so full but just needed to keep eating? There are times I'll go shopping and feel the urge to buy a bunch of shit and then I'll go home and I eat most of it or all of it - I'm talking I'll consume 2-3 packets of ramen with two cokes and get halfway through two big bags of chips like doritos and sun chips.

Each time after I feel super guilty and awful and want it out of my body but it keeps happening?

Thanks and sorry

Your binges are most likely caused by your restrictive diet (either restricting calories, food types, macronutrients or all). Because you're not giving it enough energy to function, it causes the biological need to overeat. So your binges would lessen and disappear if you start eating enough again, which I suggest you do soon before binging becomes a habit and the problem gets more serious.

i do the same thing and from what i've learned you just need to space our our meals more throughout the day.

its better to eat little portions many times during the day than to not eat for hours and then stuff your face.

I do the exact same thing the since March after hitting my low weight. I've gained 8 lbs. I'm trying really hard to stop but I restrict all day and then after I eat dinner, which I save my calories for so I can be satisfied before I go to sleep, then I just lose control. I just feel so wildly hungry and I can't stop, even after I'm so full I can barely breathe for the rest of the night.

Haven't been letting myself purge either, but my body keeps trying to get rid of the excess of food and I'll accidentally throw up in my mouth. Worst part, I stuff myself in front of my boyfriend, who has got to be completely disgusted by me.

You're not alone!

I do the same. I've been going to stores spending a stupid amount of money on snacks, especially ramen, and eat everything so fast without control. I didn't feel bad about it at first, like no guilt or self-hatred. The guilt and self-hatred slowly came after a few months and I started purging after these binges. I'd say it's concidered binging if you cant control it and just wanna keep eating to the point you feel just low-key sick from it. Please get help. I'm sorry you're going through this, good luck.

maybe you should try opting out coke for diet coke and the big bags of chips for the small individual bags of chips

Don't feel too bad. My binges end up with me carrying 10-11 lbs of food in me.

For example, a recent binge I had;

1 party sized bag of sour cream cheddar chips

1 gallon ice cream

4 packets of ramen

6-7 donuts

1 container of icing

2 blocks of cheese

1 full sleeve of crackers

half a loaf of bread

little over half a container of white chocolate peanutbutter (omf so good no regrets)

Don't beat yourself up too much. Just identify triggers and learn from them. (Which, as you can see, I am horrible at lmao)

BRUH.

SAME.

It is definitely disordered eating, very much like mine. I restrict until I can't anymore and that makes me binge. Small, frequent meals are the way to go! I'm sorry this is happening with you. :( It sucks. I'd suggest bringing it up to your therapist so you can work on nipping this dangerous habit in the bud.

I don't know my criteria for considering something a binge is that I lose control and can't stop eating it until I feel sick. It can be 500 calories worth of food at once to infinite haha

Not really, a binge has a criteria
You can't tell me that eating a burger with fries would be considered a binge
Someone may feel awful about it and very sad and they may be having a lot of guilt and anxiety for it, and it's totally ok to feel that way, you can't invalidate their feelings. They still deserve love and support cuz they are going through a rough path
But that's definitely not a binge

I’m exactly the same! During the day I would eat almost nothing but drink water! Might have a piece of cheese. Come night time and I am ravenous! I could eat a whole bag of crisps and a truckload of sweets!
But then I want to go to the bathroom and get sick😢
Wake up the next day, Same thing all over again.
