Sometimes, I just want to be able to talk to my friends / family members without sitting at a dining table.

I know - bane of my existence!!
5ft 9" / 175 cm

CBMI : 43 kg / 95 lb - BMI 14.0 (01/10/20)
Dressed

Highest weight I have been in years. Functioning so much better but struggling somewhat mentally and physically to accept. Learning a lot about why I am like this.

- Re-diagnosed Nov-17 - back in treatment (OP) after more than 20 years.

LBMI : Who cares - I was screwed, can't remember much, severe depression and just wanting to die, unable to maintain temperature - have no desire to return to that little hell hole.

LDBMI - Lowest Discharge BMI (after 2.5 months hospitalisation) : 11.9... and finally, after 9+ years, some form of 'recovery/insight' - just not the "Made for TV" version.

It's super annoying, but there's ways out of it. For example, I like to say I ate a big meal earlier and am not feeling that hungry, so I'll order a diet soda or just a water instead.

Other excuses:

"I'm cramping pretty bad today, so I'll just have a drink." (If you're a girl or anyone with a uterus)

"I'm feeling a little queasy, I'll just have a soda to settle my stomach."

"I don't have much of an appetite today."

It is frustrating :( But I also know once you find the right people who I guess 'fit' better with who you are and what works for you, then there are social activities that don't involve food - like my bf and I go to the beach or shopping and we like never involve food - and this was before covid lol more money for fun stuff

In my culture, food is the one thing that reunites everyone. Food is really so so sacred and although I have an ED, I completely acknowledge the importance of it. Being reunited with loved ones around food that was cooked with love is very beautiful to me, although scary of course for the food part.

Imo, with friends it's different because there's so much you could do that does not involve food. Sure, a lot of the time we go to a restaurant or a bar, but if you live in a big city, there is so much to do and explore outside of the food and drinks spots.

Most non-ED people don't prefer to go more than maybe 5 hours without eating, so it makes sense for them to fit meals into their social activities. Eating is also "fun" and helps people relax and bond. I personally enjoy social eating in some contexts.

Height: 5'1" (155 cm)
CW: mid 90s? not weighing because i'm lowkey recovering but i'll probably end up around BMI 18.5-19
LW: 72 lbs (32.7 kg)

I hate the fact that my family thinks birthdays should be celebrated by a restaurant meal followed by unhealthy food - I’m thinking birthday cake! I mean, it’s my birthday, just let me starve in peace.

Although it's absolutely true, there's not much we can do to change society.

Most of the so-called food that people socialize around is toxic and over processed.

If everyone wants to make food the center piece of their day the least they should do is eat non-animal protein sources.

Always remember MEAT is MURDER!

i know this is two years old but like. no
everyone’s diet is different lol
i think this is the worst website to push such a narrative. u eat ur own way we’ll eat our own way..
