YES.

Everything seems to revolve around food. It's a bit easier in summer/nice weather, when you can do stuff like go to the park, go to festivals, etc, but it's harder in winter when you have to do things indoors.

Although it's absolutely true, there's not much we can do to change society.

Most of the so-called food that people socialize around is toxic and over processed.

If everyone wants to make food the center piece of their day the least they should do is eat non-animal protein sources.

Always remember MEAT is MURDER!

you could suggest a coffee date and get black coffee or plain tea! or i’m currently doing whole 30 which gives me the excuse to have a salad with no dressing, no cheese, and (depending on the restaurant) no meat! for ex the other day i had 1/2 a salad with lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, salsa, and grilled chicken. i used the restaurants website nutrition calculator and the whole salad was about 155 cal, and i only ate 1/2 of it and let me tell y’all it was damn delicious

I don't know why either, and it's extremely annoying. There are so many things to do besides eating.

GOD i relate; my friends from my senior high school year asked me to hang out after a year of not seeing each other and of COURSE they want to go a place called junkies (the name is enough) or a place called chocolate bar (again, the name is enough). it's so frustrating, why cant they at least choose to have normal homemade food or healthy snacks.

I’m resentful of it. I don’t eat anything at parties if I can. I avoid activities, too.

Then made plans to visit a family member Sunday and they wanted to go out to eat as well. Wtf just stop.

“I wanted to be where nobody I knew could ever come.”

Pain itself can be pleasurable accidentally in so far as it is accompanied by wonder, as in stage-plays; or in so far as it recall s a beloved object to one's memory, and makes one feel one's love for the thing, whose absence gives us pain. Consequently, since love is pleasant, both pain and whatever else results from love, in so far as they remind us of our love, are pleasant. - Thomas Aquinas

This is why you have to research places beforehand
Parks, lakes, creeks, sports, rollerskating, ice skating, hiking, skiing, waterboarding, surfing
You could take an art, music class together
You could go to a museum, rollercoaster park

These are places that don't completely focus on food and will burn calories in the meantime

Yep, in our culture (and many cultures around the globe, especially westernized ones) eating food with friends, acquaintances, family, coworkers, etc. is a "bonding occasion" cherished by most regular people. This, in my opinion, is likely because of the major food industry practically at its peak right now.

Welk, a hangout is like 3-5 hours without eating, and normal people get hungry during this time frame lol. Funny how people don't have a good time without food when for us it's the opposite.

So I generally like to be alone, but on the off chance I want to go out with my friends or go on a date, everyone thinks it is completely necessary to involve some sort of food. Am I the only one who gets frustrated by this??

I was just thinking about this yesterday when I was asked out last minute, followed by a panic because I already "ate", followed by being judged at the table for not eating "enough". But it's either that or don't go out.

I couldn't agree more.
Browsing event pages, looking for things to do, here in the city, and all the events are food events, events being held in restaurants and such, or things like wine tasting or wine and art nights.
It's nearly impossible to find stuff do to that doesn't involve food.
