There isn't a point of eating 200 calories to lose weight, most of the people who do it have reactive binges and don't admit it and will get mad that I said this. With rare exceptions even very thin people can continue losing weight at 1000-1200 calories. The people on here who brag about eating under 500 always and never going over it to make everyone else feel bad are a minority; having an ED/anorexia has never been about your daily intake, but about losing weight long term and staying at a lower weight.

As to why you dont lose faster at an intake lower than 500, it's because of the law of diminishing returns/starvation mode. It takes calories to digest food. If you aren't digesting any food, your digestive system shuts down and your TDEE drops accordingly. There is no point to eating so little, at all. You may as well eat at least a little.

I agree with a lot of this, I eat 300-600 cals per day, with one high cal day per week (900-1000), & the only reason I eat closer to 300 on some days is because of severe anxiety & a need for control brought on by dealing with PTSD,& digestive issues from celiac disease (since I was nine the drs kept misdiagnosing me, at 29 I got the final diagnosis of Celiac disease. I am now 30.)

I am a dancer,& I feel so much better when I eat closer to 600.
I am gradually trying to up my cals to 400-700 per day.
I weigh 81.6 now.

You shouldn't be losing that much unless you're VERY overweight then that would explain it, or you have an issue with your metabolism.

my highest bmi was actually 23, and now its 18. so i was actually never overweight in the first place. its my metabolism i suppose.

That’s not true
In the long run high restrictors get to lower weights because sooner or later the metabolism will slow down AND low restricting causes muscle loss so in the end the bmr is different

I meant in the short term. Sorry I Should have made that clearer!

My limits are 500cal, I don’t usually eat 500 really, 490-495 are my highest, but I feel comfortable this way, I do feel sick sometimes but that’s just confirm that it’s working, as time passed it became a habit and it’s just fun for me, it makes me feel better and powerful and gave me a goal and a dream to live for

I won't lose weight eating a thousand calories, I have a thyroid disease and I have to eat less anyway. Lucky for me if I eat very little or fast I get incredibly nauseous and I can go for long periods of time without eating.

Exactly. I have Hashimotos and a naturally high fasting glucose. Eating 500 cal a day since the last week of May/ first week of June has put me at a 10 lb loss. If I eat more than that, even by 300 cals,, I will maintain.

that's why i high restrict and intermittent fast. it's much easier for me to fast for two days than eat 200 calories per day for those two days, and then on days where i'm not fasting, i just make sure my TDEE is over 2000 and have like 1000 cals (more or less based on TDEE). i can't low restrict for the life of me. eating tiny bits of food throughout the day just makes me want to eat more

Every ED is different. I just hate myself so much that anything over 400 cals is "bad". ED logic has no logic to it. We're sick. If you're able to eat 1000 calories or more go for it!

Well, first of all, everyone is different. Not everyone is able to eat 1200 calories without exercise and lose weight.
If I eat around 800 calories or sometimes even less, my body maintains the weight. Different people with different heights, weights and TDEE's lose weight differently. As you lose weight, your body needs fewer calories to lose more. So please, I don't want any comments saying "You can't possibly maintain on 800 calories! That's so much lower than your TDEE!" It's just the way my body is.
With that being said, the voices of my disordered eating are louder than any physical symptoms I might experience due to hunger.

I am wondering the same... I can either not eat anything or I eat 800+ calories but I can never eat like 100-600 calories ... Once I eat I can’t control my appetite and just eat very little amounts... If anyone has tips I would like to be able to eat very little too

So many factors in play here. For me control, the happiness of having the numbers go down and knowing I can do it. Hating myself and wanting to punish myself as much as possible.

I’m a high restrictor, so I’m on abt 1400 a day. But I need to lose holiday weight so I’m find I hard at the moment. Two steps forward and two steps back

Most days I am so disgusted with myself that I literally lose my appetite just thinking about how fat and disgusting I am. I try to stay under 600 most days. A lot of days I will go around 200 but it's just as a way to punish myself - not just about losing weight. It's effed up but that's the nature of the beast.

I get scared of food and CAN’T eat. The mental stress is higher than the physical “hunger” I guess.

As for losing weight, I’m the same. I can binge gummy candy and lose the same as restricting on veggies. Stupid metabolisms.

When I feel hungry I feel happier.

When I don't feel hungry I wonder why I'm not and try to make myself.

I start to lose interest in food, like I just can't be bothered with it.  My intake becomes less and less and as my stomach shrinks, I find food less interesting.  I eat, for sure, but try to keep it pretty bland, or to my "safe" high calorie foods.  I don't have a tendency to binge and get uncomfortably full very easily.

Your stomach shrinks over time.
I try to eat when my stomach rumbles. It helps a lot. The rumbling basically tells me when I need to eat. Otherwise, I eat very little.
