It does not help with fat loss.

But it does help you drop water and food weight, and sometimes (2 or 3 times a month) I just need it because it's been 3-4 days and I'm horrendously bloated and constipated and I HATE that feeling.

I like feeling light and empty "down there," it's one of my biggest motivators for fasting.

Me personally, I only use them when I want to weigh in after a period of restriction, to get rid of waste weight and to be able to know how much I lost exactly.

If I've been constipated for a few days I will usually use a glycerin suppository. They are very safe when compared to other laxatives, just make sure you don't use them more than a few times a week, and never more than once in 24 hours. Also they work RIGHT AWAY like give them 10 minutes and you're cleared out. I highly recommend them because you aren't really screwing up your intestines like with other laxatives. I know they don't make me lose weight but they definitely give me literal immediate relief from constipation.

I actually never considered these to be laxatives but well... Yeah I've "learned" that they are actually laxatives lol (forgive my stupidity). Just a safer version that... goes up your butthole.

By the classic definition, they're kalilyas, not laxatives, because they don't affect the intestines and they're not stimulant-irritant. Laxatives flush you out, gly sups just "make you do the doo" - hence their traditional association with potty training.

I use to use it to get rid of my bloat from a binge faster so that I wouldn’t have to wait days for it to go away

like most people said, punishment after a binge, or eating more than usual in general. i can feel the food in me and imagining what's going on inside and knowing that because of my dumb mistake now im witnessing the storing of fat on my body, its unnerving and the mass in me seems like a foreign object that needs to be removed, like the fat. so just getting it out as soon as possible feels like gaining control over the food thats ravaging my body.

what they're supposed to do is ease consitpation which makes a lot of people get from restricting.

It then snowballs into an addiction leading people, myself included to take 10+ lax at once or even entire packages which can give you cancer if you keep going down that road.

i use them because i’ve destroyed my digestion. it doesn’t work without. though i will admit i’ve misused it quite a lot, and my high consumption has definetely taken part in the destruction of my digestion.

i know it doesn’t make you loose weight, but i like the feeling of being «clean» inside. also shit weighs, so even though it’s not fat you’re getting tid of, it’s pleasing to see the numbers go down

would absolutely not reccomend it, as my body got depended on it way faster than i ever imagined. having to rely on some form of lax to be able to shit is not fun

Makes me feel like I know my “true weight”. I don’t use them often and when I do it’s safely with miralax. I just like knowing nothing is in me when I weigh

I’ve abused laxatives in the past knowing I wouldn’t actually lose fat. It’s really only immediate relief. Most of the time I used lax it was shortly after a spontaneous binge, and the sodium and bloating felt so unbearable emotionally that I felt as if I needed to get rid of it faster to feel okay again.
I don’t abuse them anymore and it’s been years since I’ve taken them specifically for my ED. But, I only abused them several times - I wasn’t an avid laxative user by any means. For those who’ve used laxatives for years it’s probably more so addiction rather than exclusively purging related.
I’m sure there’s still individuals out there who think laxatives can force-bypass calorie consumption too.

I quit abusing them several years ago but my reason was just desperation after binging. Probably also didn't help that I'd get really high and drunk a lot during that time so I was making pretty dumb decisions left, right and center. It wasn't worth it at all but it gave me some semblance of control.

Yeah what everyone else is saying...they have rarely made me loose even water weight, but when you haven't had a shit in a whole week you can get desperate. I've also used them to punish myself for binging. Like I know they won't make up for the binge but I feel a little less likely to binge if I know I'll be up all night with cramps.

I relate to this.
If I punish myself after over eating with them, I feel like a deserve the pain from it? Or it puts me off then binging because I know the aftermath will be abusing them which I don’t want to do.
Also despite not proper weight loss, it dehydrates you and water weight shows on the scale, and VISIBLY on me also, so although not actual fat loss, still a loss in my mind

I just use it so I don't feel bloated and gross, but I've only used it 3 times in my life. Sometimes I get constipated too and this helps bowel movements move, which also helps the scale decrease haha.
