I work as a phlebotomist. I work for a mobile blood donation company and so between long, random hours and eating from gas stations a lot, my weight skyrocketed. I'm slowly working toward a lower weight, however, I'm around my coworkers for about 50 to 60 hours a week so they would notice if I started skipping meals more often than I already do. Thank god that I normally take my coffee black or drink sugarfree redbull.

Have you considered advertising also as a proofreader and book self-publisher? That got me through lean times with a graphic arts studio. Proofreading people's novels, or books translated from Spanish to English for grammar, editing, et cetera. Tons of people self publish now, but have no idea how to get books printed at good prices, import from foreign print houses, get ISBN numbers, list on Amazon. If you learn to do all that for people, you can make a good $500-1000 per job. Making a relationship with a print house or two in India and learning how to import physical copies for people will save a self publishing author more than $1000 compared to having a US Printer make copies for them, so the service is invaluable.

I'm a guard in a cell block in northern Canada.  It's...sad.  You see so many people dealing with terrible demons all day every day.  I don't think I will be staying there long.

I’m a rare book conservator. It’s my dream job. I get to build mounts for exhibits and turn pages, fix tears and line weak pages, resew text blocks and build new cases (covers) and custom enclosures. So much fun stuff doing a thousand year old trade. I make a modest, livable salary, but I’m honestly ok with not making a fat 6 figure income because I would legitimately do it for free.

I think so too. Studying and training for it has been brutal but worth it. I kind of pushed everything to the wayside so I could focus, but that led to me just turning into a fat nerdy bum. Now that I have met my major professional goals, I can work on getting the rest of my life together...

I recently got a new office job at a large healthcare corporation... basically everyone on the team eats healthy and exercises, and then there’s also small number of people on my team who restrict to extreme levels... We’re talking vegetarians, vegans, multi day fasts and/or meals that consist of 5 water crackers or like, half an apple. 懐かしい...
