Does anyone else eat their own skin? Off of your fingers, inside your mouth?
I find I especially do it when i'm fasting or starved.

I also fear how many calories there is in my own skin and blood...

Yes. I find it strange I like to eat my own skin. My dermatophagia comes from my dermatillomania, and both flare up when I’m stressed.

Is that what it’s called? For me, it’s something I do when I’m anxious, or just haven’t had enough sleep.

To quote Fight Club, “My mouth thinks it has flocked wallpaper, I’m biting the inside of my mouth so much.”

My fingers aren’t much better.

I was able to kick this habit for w little while, or not go too crazy with it, but I just fill-fledged chewed off everything yesterday night when I was hungry (not because it makes me less hungry.. but I tend to fidget with my mouth when I’m hungry. Like nail biting too)

Oh well. There goes that.

The worst part is I’ve got this slightly eroded part of my big front tooth that gets a little worse every time I bite my nails/skin. Since I did it so much yesterday it feels tender. I really worry about my tooth a lot. I wonder if it’ll turn into a cavity?

Yes! Especially when I'm stressed or sad and I hate it a lot. My fingers look ugly and weird from it. I sorta got away from it for a little while, but it comes back every time.

I used to pick and eat scabs as a child, now I have had a decade long habit of eating the skin dead my cuticles on fingers and it’s made the surrounding finger skin very dry and flaky

I do this! Well I don’t eat it, like swallow it and stuff, I just chew it off and spit it out. My fingers look like I was in water too long because of it. I do it mainly because of anxiety.

I literally thought everyone did this what. Lol I’ll chew my cheeks and the skin by my nails kind of running my teeth along the edge for any hangnails, this sounds so gross but it’s not as gross as it sounds

My fingers are bloody and hurt all the time thanks to this. Same with my lips but not as extreme.

Anyone who knows how to stop this?
Trying to get better?

I try really hard not to fucking eat away my fingers or the inside of my mouth. I also bite my fingernails and kinda rip off my toenails. Oh and I also chew on stuff that doesn't belong near your mouth, like pens and pencils. And I smoke. A lot. Basically, I have a serious oral fixation. I think most of these behaviors are classified as impulse control disorders, which are related to OCD. I'm diagnosed with OCD so I guess it should come as no surprise.
