it's likely just malnutrition. rumination disorder usually affects children and a lot of parents probably aren't aware of it being an actual condition, so that could be why

I have pretty bad reflux (GERD), ....Since I had it so young, I remember the adults in my life being worried about it causing cancer. ....maybe this?

I had rumination disorder for about a year after I had my gallbladder removed. This also coincided with the end of my anorexia recovery. I had my throat dilated during an upper GI scope and that helped a lot. I had the procedure repeated 6 months later and the rumination disorder never happened again. Might be worth consulting a gastroenterologist to see if you can get some relief.
