So, I been trying to read how long it usually takes people to lose weight with bulimia and most sites say you simply cant. you will either gain or maintain.
I know this isn't solidly true since I have lost over 100lbs with mainly just purging.

so.. out of curiosity..
how long have you had your bulimia, and how much weight have you lost??

   xxJack.

I can lose just as much weight purging as I did low restricting.

But only if, my gag reflex can hang in there for the long run.

And it does not. It goes out in about 2 months if I am lucky.

I usually lose about 30-40 lbs in the meantime.

Too bad it all returns.

I have had bulimia since the end of 2014.

I have been having a long history of my weight doing the yo-yo.

It is why my bulimia sucks for me. I want it gone.

I actually have had Bulimia for 8 years now (off and on) and I've maintained weight. I only lose if I'm restricting.

i can lose very slowly if i don’t eat anything inbetween my b/ps and walk regularly. sounds like hell but it’s the only sustainable way for me to lose weight. i’m ass at restricting and if i eat a normal amount i gain or maintain

Tbh, I kinda think of restricting as the go-to for weight loss, and purging as the avoidance of weight gain

I spent all of last year being stuck in a horrible b/p cycle and I never really lost or gained anything. I pretty much maintained my weight throughout all of it with only a few fluctuations here and there. The only way I can lose weight and keep it off is by restricting. I’m not diagnosed with bulimia though, idk if that makes a difference.

i don’t consider myself bulimic, but i do binge and i once purged every day for a week and lost weight.
i haven’t purged since then, it was a rough week and i’d rather get rid of calories with laxatives, exercise, or fasting.

Lol B/Ping is basically the only way I can lose weight anymore. I got to my LW that way and got close again after gaining like 25lbs when I stopped purging for a bit.

i only lose when i'm restricting or not eating outside of my b/ps. shit sucks

Dove deep into purging when the virus came about, having occasionally done it in the past, some periods more frequently than others (over 20 years). Weight would basically stay the same over that time. Now, since March, have lost about 4 pounds (BMI now 15.2) and need to be careful not to lose more.

Did you gain the weight that you've lost after that?

I restrict and then sometimes b/p once or twice a day, though I've had days where I didn't b/p at all. I've lost 40 pounds since January.

Let's see... 16 years. Overall, I guess I'm down 70lbs but I'm also up about 70lbs... I've yo-yo'd a lot.

BAHAHA I bp'd my way to a BMI of 20 when I was a teenager, starting from 27.

Then I stayed at 20 for a bit until I started restricting more. I lost faster while restricting though, with BP I maintained my weight for longer.

I have lost 13kg since the 18th May b/ping 5+ times most days.

It isn't pleasant and it definitely isn't sustainable so I'm expecting to gain a lot back when I manage to pull myself out of this relapse.
