Imo 18.5-20 is the long term sweet spot, at least for guys. It's impossible not to look at the very least slim. You can kinda get any look you want if you work on changing your body composition. I'm entering that soon, and it's interesting to look at myself in the mirror and see possibilities rather than something I just hate regardless.

While I like the idea of being underweight (and personally want to get there someday, just to see what it's like), I don't see it as a long term solution for me (or most people). I think I'm just obsessed with the metrics and numbers of being "healthy" though.

it depends on your body composition

i think bmi 17 or 18 is perfect if you aren't skinny fat and have toner muscle with very low body fat

however some ppl dont look that skinny at bmi 17 or 18 because they have high body fat. so to achieve the same look they'd need to be atbmi 14-15.

im skinny fat but aiming for bmi 17 still and will try reduce my body fat while maintaining muscle

I'd love to get to 17. Im 18.9 right now and 17 is underweight for sure, with wiggle room to flux... 18 is too close to 19 which is healthy.

16.5-18.5 depending on body shape, body fat %, large or small frame etc. but i think majority of us look good in that spot. for normal people i’d say 18-20.

For someone who just wants to look thin but still healthy, probably 18-19. For my bone structure, 17.8 at the most.

But I know a lot of people with higher BMIs but because of their body composition and bone structure, it looks fine on them. Like my friend has the stereotypical thiccc body that is in. Her waist is stupid tiny, and she has a really big butt and thighs, but it suits her well because she looks like Cardi B or something.

Exactly. People don't realize when they too low restrict and don't eat protein and work out that their body is consuming their muscles so even though they get skinnier they still feel "fat" because they see softness but it's just because they don't have any underlying muscle left. Best way to look "good" if that's what you're going for is to high restrict get enough protein and lift weights/do HIIT training. Maybe not so disordered but hey isn't that what's ideal anyways? ;)

Probably 17-18, since I want to maintain while underweight. My current UGW would put me at 17.8 and we’ll see when I finally get there
