So I've been breastfeeding for almost 2 and a half years now... I want to stop but my son is so obsessed and it's the only way he can sleep.

I keep fasting and restricting low hoping milk will dry up. Will this work? It's purely a comfort thing at this point for my son.

I'm having severe breastfeeding aversion now and I feel so guilty 😭

Dont feel guilty. I only made it 5 weeks. To stop milk production you gotta tell your breasts he doesnt need it anymore. So just start cutting it down. If you have a pump it would be perfect. Start giving it to him in a bottle if you dont already. You can mix breast milk with regular milk. Wean him off onto regular milk. Now to get off milk for bed i cannot help you. My daughter is the same age same problem. There are probably supplements to help slow production so definitely look into that.
But anyway if you can pump instead of feed dont empty all the way. Itll tell your body it needs to make less. Do that til you can just stop and pump if you feel discomfort but again only pump enough to relieve the feeling. By doing that itll eventually dry up.

I did it until my kid was 18 months. Your milk drying up won’t help because at that age they’re not doing it for milk, it’s a comfort thing.
I had the same issue that it was the only way to make her sleep at night but one day she got a cold and blocked nose that lasted a few days. She could breastfeed because she couldn’t breathe. So I had to rock her to sleep instead. It was really hard at first/took ages but I refused to go back the easy route after that. Never looked back.

Thanks for the replies guys. I only pump an ounce at a time atm, and he will not take it from cup or bottle. Only boob.

I'm just feeling really smothered ... I love him to bits but I can't do it anymore

If you're only pumping an ounce and cant pump anymore than that it'll seriously be easy. That's how mine was and I just stopped. Once I felt a lot of pressure I pumped about 20ml and waited. Didnt feel it again so it had stopped

Oh god I could have written this! My little girl is 2 and a boob monster. I resent it some days and love it others. I feel smothered too. I’m sorry I have no answers only you aren’t alone in how you are feeling x

It is so hard!

Fasing or restricting is unlikely to do much at this point- your supply is well established and they aren't afraid to dry nurse.

Congrats on making it this long!

If you want it to completely dry up try pseudoephedrine aka sudafed you prob have to ask the pharmacist for it. It worked for me plus it's an appetite suppressant.
