I went vegan over a year ago after behind vegetarian for 15 years. All for ethical reasons. I absolutely cannot ever go back to supporting the animal agricultural industry but I gained so much weight and can’t seem to lose it? Is it lack of protein? When I was losing weight before I ate eggs every day. I don’t eat eggs anymore and drink. Protein shake instead. But even with restricting to about 800 every day I can’t lose anything. Anyone else with advise who has or hasn’t had this problem? I’m tired of hating myself and I can’t go back to eggs and dairy.

Maybe you should check that out with your doctor, maybe it's the lack of some vitamins or minerals? It's not possible to eat 800 cals and not lose or maybe it's just a plateau cuz you weigh too little?

I feel like I have this problem also.

Are you severely underweight? There's no way you wouldn't be able to lose on 800 calories a day, doesn't matter the diet.

vegan made me gain too. I wasn't really watching my calories but I never ate a ton of food. looking back I believe it was just all the sugar in my smoothies, the pasta, oatmeal, toast. I never felt as shitty as when I did vegan for a few months. but I really liked eating that way. why not bring back eggs and just get them locally from a farm you can visit?

that sounds like a medical problem. you should get checked at the hospital. it's not normal to eat that little and gain weight.

I also gained quite a few pounds the first year I went vegan lol
but, looking back, that could be attributed to the fact that I wasn’t watching my protein whatsoever (my bloods actually came back protein-deficient at one point while I was intentionally restricting protein as a way to s/h ), so I was always hungry and ate a lot of processed carbs. (Couldn’t afford fresh food.)

If you eat a plate of veggies prior to every meal, and drink water, you should have an easier time losing because you won’t eat as much of the high-cal items.

I gained when I went vegan because I felt less guilt about eating. but over all I also reached my lw (adult lw 82lb)  as a vegan as well as my hw 192lb as a mostly vegan (I would eat cheese when I was drunk enough but otherwise not) so I mean it depends on what you eat and frequency. If you are having a lot of bloating and digestive issues I would look into more low fodmap foods.

I did too but ever since I’m having 3 servings of beans every day the weight is just falling off
not thin enough for ana. not clean enough for ortho.
