Okay this is super gross and tmi but my period blood smells like a mix of dead meat and old blood. I've googled it and it says it could be a tampon but I don't wear tampons. It isn't an sti because I haven't had sex, I wouldn't know where I'd get an infection from.

Has anyone else had this? I suffer with my periods bad, they're irregular and heavy due to my thyroid but they've never smelt this bad before.

This is super gross I know but it's really bothering me, it's so bad. AT the beginning of the week when I first come on it stank the house out, now i'm on my 7th day it's calming down.

maybe you have a bacterial infection. are you having any symptoms of a bacterial infection, like itching, burning during urination? that could be a cause. hope this helps

You don't have to be sexually active to contract a bacterial or fungal infection.

Sometimes when I am inactive, the blood will stay inside me longer and cause the smell and darker color. :/

Is the color different than usual? If so, something similar happened to me recently. The doctor told me it’s because my level of physical activity changed (I move less lately) and it’s nothing to be worried about.

You could also be overly sensitive to the smell. I read an article on this fairly recently but I don't have the links for it, but you basically smell yourself more when you're menstruating even if you don't stink.
