Back when I was a kid I wouldn't touch anything that I deemed "not good tasting", basically anything bitter, anything cold that has an overly mushy texture (asides from actual purees lmao), a lot of random food items, cheese, milk...it would take quite some time to list them all. Now I think I'm a lot less picky because most things don't deter me as much, but the taste/smell of full fat milk makes me nauseous, the game-y taste of some meats disgusts me, and I still would rather eat either 100% mild food or 100% spicy to the point of covering everything else...Idk but I hate the taste of ketchup and still cannot stand it to this day.

I've always thought about it as very picky eating...but this was definitely not the norm, I guess.

If I can't have these what's the point of living?

No more restriction, no more ED. Just trying to live and forget about ever having an ED.

Maybe?

Some other things I've noticed with ARFID:

  • sauces are a no-no
  • even saying the names of foods induces disgust
  • can't do other people's dishes
  • touching the wrong foods disgusts me
  • I have to restrain myself so as not to gag around other people's food

(for me and my sister, she's underweight from it).

If you get a tiny bit of someone’s food on your hand do you have a panic moment too?
I have anosmia, which I think has only helped nurture my picky eating, any soft foods make me gag - mashed potato, mushy peas, baked beans etc
Let everything happen to you. Beauty and terror. Just keep going.
No feeling is final.

woah this sounds like me, I literally can't do the dishes and sauces, I just hate them. I don't feel super visceral disgust, but I can't look at people when they're eating their food. Also, I find it super hard to try new stuff. Definitely can't touch the other food, unless it's like a fruit with the skin on ya know

This year, I tried banana, and I eat them all the time now, but when I was bragging about it ppl were just looking at me like 'ummm??'. I don't think I have AFRID though, I'm probably just fussy idk

Yup! I feel like it's pretty consistent in ARFID, I noticed it because my sister has it too lol.

Neophobia here too lol.

I can try new stuff, sometimes, errr xD I remember I was trying to try zucchini, and I just sat there for half and hour, picking it up, trying to eat some, putting it back down again, eventually took one bite.

Also! Do you find you're constricted to certain brands of foods? Like, I can eat hummus, but it has to be a certain brand, otherwise it's like just trying a whole new food lol

YUP used to be worse but before I was on OCD meds I literally only ate one brand of milk per city I was in lmao.
