So trail mix, just in general. No specific flavor. Its a mix of fruits and nuts, sometimes a bit of candy.

How do you guys deal with it? Like it drives me crazy that there is no possible way to just scoop out a serving, and KNOW the calories in it. After all, one serving may have more raisins, one serving may have more cashews.

Does anyone else measure it out by individual ingredient? Like I'll count out 10 raisins, and calculate the calories in that. Then I'll count out 8 cashews, and calculate the calories. Then 15 almonds. Etc.

Then I add the calories together. To know EXACTLY how many calories I'm eating. As opposed to just grabbing a 1/4 cup of trail mix, looking at the package, and saying "ok, this says 1/4 cup has 200 cal".

I just feel like theres absolutely no way it's accurate, after all each scoop has different amounts of each item.

I don’t eat trail mix. However, for the things I do eat that are similar I am satisfied with averages. I can cope with the fact that even if I’m slightly over on one day I’ll be slightly under on another.

Other things (like a tub of HaloTop) I just add the total calorie count onto the day (or week) and eat it over a few days. It still works out.

i don’t eat trail mix either but i agree, canned soup for example might include more or less vegetables depending on the can. i just try to mix it well and usually i’m content with the calories given on the package, but i’ll just round up a bit to be certain i’m not eating way too much more

Ahhh, that is not the ana way. The ingredients must be purchased separately, and every 50 gram serving weighed out.. nut by nut (Read in evil voice lol)

I don't eat trail mix specifically because I can't know for sure how many calories it has, but if I did I'd probably count the calories for each ingredient separately.

I honestly hate it, too! When I first started trying to eat trailmixes/mixed nuts again, I was so paranoid about it that I would actually separate and count the calories in each thing as well. It ended up being really exhausting for some reason and I realized that the calories I ended up with were close enough to what the package said anyway, usually under (per tbsp in this case). I just started trusting the averages and figured that as long as it looks pretty evenly mixed, I'm content with that.

Everything is inaccurate on cal counts. A lot of things by more than half. And guess which way it tends to skew... yep almost everything has way more calls than we think. No wonder people that think they are honestly eating like 500 cal a day can’t lose weight
