thought it would be fun to have a thread for everyone doing the hsgd to cheer each other on.

I just finished 2 months on it (lost 8.2 lbs then stopped weighing) and will start the extended version tomorrow. Oh the joy of Christmas during a pandemic.

I don't count fruit and veggies but make sure I don't have too much of either and do net cals. I also have PCOS and am short and at a healthy weight so losing a pound a week is really a lot for me.

How about you?

Hey Kiss!

This is actually a perty neat idea. I am in awe of your dedication, this diet is so worth it! You truly get the best benefits if you stick to it over a long period of time as it is on the higher end of low restriction

I am currently on day 2 of my second round. My first go of it I did count fruit and veggies, this time I am debating on it. Yesterday I had to as I was doing an apple mono so saying zero intake would have been a bit of a stretch haha

My question for you is do you give yourself a limit on "free calories"? Like, as a vegan and a natural avid lover of fruit and veg, it feels weird to not count what can equate to hundreds of extra calories in a day.

I'm currently debating a system to give myself a slack on fruit&veg while still feeling like I'm not overdoing my intake. My current idea is to only not count fruit&veg cals that I burn off and counting the rest. What do you think?

aww thanks. I don't think I would last the entire diet while counting fruit and veggies. I have done the diet many times and never binged on it and credit the free stuff. (And net cals)

With vegetables, I just watch portion sizes bc I don't want to stretch out my stomach.  With fruits, 2 servings are free and the rest has to be counted. If it's a small fruit or just a couple of berries I count that as half a serving. I've always done it this way. If I eat starchy vegetables like pumpkin they take away one free serving of fruit. I do count corn and peas though as they fall more into the grains/legumes category.

Sounds complicated but really isn't lol.

I did one fruit and veggie day where I counted all fruit and had free veggies and I would've done the same on the apple mono.

Thinking about doing the HSGD too! But rather because I get really dizzy and get headaches when I fast :) Does it help a lot with weightloss? And does anyone here exercise while on this diet?

hi, yes I exercise but only do looong walks. I lost a little over 10 lbs in 3 months and am still doing it. So it's not that fast but I haven't binged or experienced reactive eating once. Slow and steady :)

my best results were from the hsgd and i didn't even exercise (other than walking to and from school for the last two weeks). keep in mind i'm a higher weight so with any restriction it's pretty easy to lose weight, but i lost 8.8kg in a month from doing the hsgd in 2019. decided to restart it in 2020 (:

It’s my first 1300 cal day and I feel so guilty. I feel like I binged all day and am too scared to eat my last 200 cals even though I know I need all the energy I can get for work.

Somebody tell me it’s okay please?

Hey! I started the diet on Monday and I’ve been loving it! I did this before in 2017 and it worked great for me! Digestion running, mood elevated, sleep schedule steady, skin clear, and mind free of food obsession!
I don’t usually subtract exercise, but I do exercise regularly, and I never count fruits and veg. I’m so happy to see you don’t either! It seems like most people who do the SGD and the HSGD still count them. Favorite form of activity while on the diet? I’m a big fan of jumping rope, walking, and following YouTube videos.

Currently on a break from hsgd bc I’ve been plateauing even before restarting and need full on cico to calm my brain. I just stick to hours of walking or watching Netflix on my elliptical and religiously do 20 mins of yoga before bed.
