800 for me is the highest tier of low restriction. i low restrict, and 800 is my ultimate max calories (usually try to keep it under 500 on average). i won't go over that unless i have a planned binge day. but high restriction is usually closer to 1000-1200 per diem. it is dependent on the person, of course, but 800/day is generally considered part of low restriction.


I pretty much do this now... 600 was my max but happier at 500, but recently I’ve upped it to max 800 as keep plateauing and been advised it might help to vary my intake... but I try and stick closer to 500/600 on some days, too. Just curious how much weight you lose each week/month doing this?

I consider 600-1,000 cals high restriction but I’m short and also very disordered so take that with a grain of salt :(

I consider high restriction 1000-1500+ but im relatively tall and very active. I could never do below 800 on a regular basis without binging constantly but every person will have their own opinion on this

From my (skewed) perspective, yes. But objectively speaking, it's still very low.

 

In my opinion it comes down to how high your tdee is though. Mine is around 1700 (less if I'm sedentary) so I don't feel like it's that extreme for me, but I'm sure it is for people who are taller and more active than me.

some may say 600cals, others may say its 2000cals.

but in my opinion; under 400 is low, 600-800 is medium, and 800+ being high

i would call it medium.

 

everyone has their own parameters tho. also depends on your TDEE and how much you exercise and how long you've been doing it for.

 

if you were doing 800 cals a day for a month i'd say it's medium. if you had been doing 800 cals a day for six months i'd say that was long term low restriction. idk

 

also who cares, whether it's low medium or high it's still restriction yknow

It's the low end of high for me.

800-1200: high
500-800: medium
Below 500: low

But this depends on your TDEE and SD, so it's COMPLETELY individual.

i'm fairly short and I consider anything over 800 high restriction. I'm trying to keep between 800-1000 and stay on "high" restriction" for the sake of not triggering binges

My opinion:
Under 600: Low
600-900: Medium
900-1300: High

 

Literally I think of it the same! Although I know *logically* it's probably anything under 1000 is considered "low restricting" from a medical standpoint but unfortunately my ED brain is not a doctor lmaooo.

Yeah same, I’m 175cm (5”9) and there are days when I maintain on 2500cals but still feel guilty when I go over 1300.

no, its very low

literally any restriction under 1200 is low by technicality. put it this way. a safe restriction of cals that people recommend is no more than a 500 cal deficit from your tdee. so, mine is like 2400/2300 with my activity level going as usual. so for me, a good intake would be 1900/1800

For me that’s way low. I burn 2400+ every day tho so high for me is about 1800

I think it's low restriction. High restriction is 1200 and up

As everyone else has said, it really changes person to person, but personally I’d consider that the lower end of high restriction. Anything above 500 to me is high, even 500 sometimes is too high for β€œlow” restriction but Β―\_(ツ)_/Β― again it’s all up to how you feel.

i'd say med-high. i'm currently eating up to 800 a day but only because i exercise most of those calories off daily, i would feel uncomfortable eating 800 if i were sedentary but that could be because i'm short and my tdee without exercising is really low lol
