I don't even know where to begin.  Someone on here told me to keep my wig on today, so there's that.

Um, my hair is curly and it's down my back and grows out of my head.  While I used to own a platinum blonde wig as part of a Storm costume (because I would never fry my hair like that), I don't wear wigs.

Of course, because I have long silky hair, I can't possibly be black.

Even Black people don't think I'm black.

No, what are you really?  No, really?

Indians think I'm Indian, lol.

The worst part is when I do share my heritage with people they feel justifed that I'm not "black."

Umm...I'm half American, half-Caribbean.  Didn't you know Black people live in the Caribbean?

And regardless of the diversity of the skin tones in my parents and my family tree, both of my parents are considered Black.

I hate the stereotype that all black people are ghetto and that we love grape soda and fried chicken. Or that we look like monkeys and "have bad hair." We're not all on wellfare and even if we were why does it matter? Or the difference I get treated by security at the store lmao I see you watching me closely calm down I'm not going to steal anything. Getting stereotyped as 'angry black woman" or "difficult" because we express that we're upset when someone treats us unfairly.

I also hate the stereotypes ppl have about hispanics. We're not all Mexican. We're not lazy. We didn't all cross the border illegally. Want me to go back to my country? Okay, split my mixed ass in half lmao. And when my black cousins say something racist about Dominicans then go to me "no offense but I can't stand dominicans." Also I hate when I tell someone I'm half dominican and they say "so black" not every single Dominican / Hispanic person is black a lot of them are of mestizo descent or european descent please stop invalidating me thx but yes I am black because my mom is but my dad is not.

Where do I start?

African American:

Not educated (I literally took honors classes in high school and have made the deans list multiple times in college and many people in my family hold MULTIPLE degrees)

Don't want to better ourselves (bullshit)

(from people within my own race) Black people can't have eating disorders or depression or anxiety

We are all ghetto and don't know how to talk

We all love chicken (I don't eat meat )

The females all have short bad hair (my hair is past my shoulders and very healthy)

I dislike some of the asian prejudice right now with covid. if it’s just a joke I don’t care, but when people actually commit violent acts against Asians it makes me concerned for humanity

uhhhhh the kool-aid and fried chicken stereotype.

in part because i play right into it.

which i fucking hate.

oh, also the part where we're stupid/uneducated/don't know proper english. i use aave/talk like "hood trash" in front of the squad but i'm also a fuckin' published author and yes i know how to speak, write, and debate like a pretentious ivy league kid when i damn well feel like it. we literally have a term for that and it's called code switching; sorry if that's a skill you're lacking, becky, but i'm actually quite proud of it lmao.

“You’re too young to be disabled!”

“You’re obviously faking your disability.”

People find out about my autism before they meet me and they talk reeeeaaaalllly slowly.

The glares I get from people when I’m out with my service dog, because how dare I exist.

“Oh you have a service dog, are you blind???”

“Oh you have a service dog, are you diabetic???”

“Oh you have a service dog and I can’t immediately tell what’s ~wrong~ with you, are you training him???”

“Wow you’re so HiGh fUncTiOniNG!!1!!1!”

And when I’m out with my service dog some people won’t even look at me. Others won’t stop staring. Others murder glare. Others give me the “oh look at that poor disabled kid” smile. And suddenly everywhere I go, everyone is suddenly talking about dogs.

So this is a stereotype that relates to EDs and race, but I hate the stereotype that "Asians are just naturally skinny"

It can be so damaging and make people not take Asians with EDs seriously. It's also harmful to Asians without EDs, especially those that don't fit the mold of "skinny Asian"

My former best friend/former roommate discounted my ED (that I told her about) multiple times during the time we lived together because she said that I had to just be "naturally skinny because it was in [my] genetics". I've actually had many friends over the years the make unprompted comments that I was only thin because of my race, but this was the first person who actually knew I had an ED. And she STILL made them.

I'm only half Asian so I'm sure I'm not even experiencing how bad these stereotypes can actually get. One of my siblings is overweight, and it is absolutely unbelievable the amount of dumb shit that people have told her because of our race. My same friend made a comment (during the same convo as my weight) about my sister must have "taken the white side of our genetics" since she wasn't thin. As if she's more or less Asian based on her weight?? This friend was pretty educated on topics of race/racism as well but still went on about this shit. I've seen many other full and half asian people get put down one way or another about their weight and race, and yeah these stereotypes are damaging.

So many things. Both physical and behavioral.

  • Full lips, big butt, big breasts, brown skin, dark eyes,...These things don't represent all of us. They talk about us as if we were all made in the same mould.
  • Always late
  • Speaking loudly
  • Dirty because we eat with our hands (well y'all don't even wash your hands before eating, after using the bathroom, nor when coming home so reconsider, thank you)
  • There's this disgusting stereotype going around that all girls are s**** and I'm so mad at this.
  • DUMB (???) / Can't think for ourselves / Won't achieve anything in life
  • Thieves
  • Terrorists (.....ok)

Honestly so many more but I don't even want to think about it. They're all based on nothing and truthfully they're so very stupid. Anyway, racism.
