I've used a legit database used by dietitians for their clients due to my uni course and even that application said white mushrooms are 8kcals per 100g.okay so on the Sainsbury's Closed Cup White Mushrooms 500g, it says they have 8 calories per 100g. but i googled calories for mushrooms per 100g and it says 22? who do i believe? help

Tesco sainsburys Waitrose Aldi and Lidl are all 8 cal per 100g
Morrison’s is 22cal for 100g
I am aware of the delusion that a different brand is a different number but considering they make up 90% of my daily intake i never risk it and always buy from the same place as their nutrition is online and like someone above said, they HAVE to be accurate in what they publish (within 10% I know) 🍄

Calorie contents of produce vary based on location grown, the soil, the exact variety of the produce and a bunch of other factors. 8kcal per 100g will be accurate for this particular brand and type, I'd use that. In UK they have to be very accurate with calorie info printed on foods, so I'd trust it
thank you, that reassured me! i ended up taking sainsbury's word for it and feeling glad abt the fact that i have 3 massive boxes of 8 calorie mushrooms in the fridge lol

I am literally the queen of mushrooms and have spent hours researching this and knowing where I can buy mushrooms from -
Tesco sainsburys Waitrose Aldi and Lidl are all 8 cal per 100g
Morrison’s is 22cal for 100g

omg thank you this was super useful! and yeah i'm gonna stick to sainsbury's mushrooms from now on - 8 calorie vs 22 - it's a no brainer

I calculate mushrooms normally as 16Kcal/100g
Cos some shops list calories higher or lower than this number, I just take the middle.

Trust the packet it will be more accurate to that specific food. There are different types of mushrooms and the calories can vary depending no how they're grown, so go with what the packet says

I had this exact same issue the other day lmao - I counted them as 22 anyway, but 8 is probably the right number since it's product-specific

I eat like 1kg of mushrooms every day (i binge on veggies) and I always count them as 22per 100g. Idk, 8 seems too low for 100g, considering that cucumbers which are almost all water have 16 per 100)g
So glad I’m not the only one who eats over kg mushrooms a day 💜💜💜
