Anyone take Xanax? I'm looking into getting a script - I fit the criteria for someone who would need it (insomnia, panic attacks etc) but if it causes weight gain I don't want it lol

same here - if I get too scared but can't stand the symptoms I take it "as needed".. I just gotta make sure you can do that with Xanax ...

I've been taking it forever and it has boo effect on weight for me. The only way it affects my eating is if I've been restricting way hard and then I take enough to feel more relaxed, sometimes I'll allow myself to eat more.

i took it for a while, didn't personally notice any difference in regards to weight.
it also made me sleep 16 hours a day, though :P

The medication itself doesn't necessarily have a metabolic effect; you just might become less anxious and inclined to restrict.

you'll either always be sleeping or feeling care free enough to eat whatever you desire.

Do antidepressants actually cause fat gain, or just appetite increase and water retention?

It’s too short acting to cause weight gain IMO. if anything I feel like taking an anti-anxiety medication would help with weight loss... since anxiety often causes people to overeat. I’ve been on it for a while as an as-needed medication (for panic attacks) but just FYI make sure to only use it when you need it, tolerance builds hella fast

Whenever I've taken one, food was the furthest thing from my mind. Same with adderall. Idk? Maybe everyone's different on different things
