Does anyone here have any experience with Wellbutrin? I tried for years to get on it, but my doctor always said no, because of my history with ED. Now he’s retired, and my new doctor is in a different health system, which means she doesn’t have access to my records. I have an appointment with her this week to get blood work done, so I’m thinking about asking for it again.

Any thoughts on this? Experiences? Warnings? I don’t purge, and I follow a fairly healthy diet, so I have to imagine my seizure risk is fairly low. That said, I don’t want to mess with my brain chemistry unless it’s really worth it (read: total loss of appetite). I’d welcome any feedback you may have!

i was on it for awhile before switching to buspar and ativan (along with zoloft and trazodone... im an old man when it comes to meds) and it led me to having super bad headaches and stomach pain. also caused me to be super shaky.. but it could've very well just been the mixture of that and my other meds.

the loss of appetite only lasted for the first few days..

stay safe, lovely!

Rats. Was hoping the loss of appetite was a permanent feature. Did you have a better experience on the others? My biggest fear is out-of-control appetite and/or inexplicable weight gain.

I've been on Wellbutrin for years... Unfortunately, it has done zippo for my appetite suppression. Perhaps it makes me feel better about eating those girl scout cookies!

Headed to the doctor tomorrow. I’m going to ask for Wellbutrin anyway, despite others saying they didn’t notice an affect on their appetite. As long as it doesn’t make me hungrier, I’m willing to give it a try!

I’m currently on Wellbutrin- I find it’s actually an appetite suppressant for me. Don’t go near Mirtazapine though that one has got me putting on 10lbs in 20 days. Not taking it anymore I can’t handle it.

Wellbutrin works for my anxiety too - topomax worked better for my migraines and anxiety but I came off birth control and if I get pregnant on Topomax there is a risk of major defects.

I tried Wellbutrin when I was working I was working night shift. It did decrease my appetite a bit at first but didn’t make me feel much better. I definitely needed the help with SAD. So I stopped it. Almost 4 years later I’m working day shift and tried it again and it’s really helping me. I feel better definitely more energy less sad. It does seem to be helping with my binge eating, my issue I’ve been struggling with. In 48 and was hesitant to try Vyvanse because it’s an amphetamine. I feel it’s helping with impulse control for sure. Been back on it about 2 months. It took almost a month to start working.

I was on it for a couple years. I didn’t lose weight. I didn’t gain weight either.
It gave me terrible brain zaps.

I was reading a memoir about an anorexic woman. She managed to get a prescription even though she weighed almost nothing. . For her, it worked. She lost weight.

I've got obstructive sleep apnea (a sleep disorder) and the stimulant effects help keep me awake. I'm on the max dose (200mg x2 per day) but still obese so it hasn't helped me to lose weight.

I’ve been on it for yrs for depression. I found it helped me loose about 10 lbs when I first started talking it, but the side effects that caused the loss of appetite didn’t last. My Dr put my dose up and again same thing. It helped in the first few weeks then my body adjusted. I’m almost taking the max dose now but it doesn’t do anything even for depression now. Sometimes I’ll cut my dose back down slowly to try to lower my tolerance.

**********I don’t recommend anyone try this! I’m not a Dr. Pls speak to your Dr. before adjusting any medication that your taking.**********

I went to get lengths to get a script and it didn’t do anything for me. It wasn’t worth the trouble seriously

Hey did you get hold of it? How are you going with it?

I've been on it for about 2 months and have noticed a decrease in appetite.
