Okay I had no idea that thigh gaps happen at such different BMIs! I’m not sure what exact BMI I got mine back at (I always had one till I lost it for a lil while) but at 23.23 I did not have one and at 22 I did. So yeah, thigh gaps definitely reflect your body shape (idk what mine is lol) more than anything else. That doesn’t stop me from wanting mine to get bigger though...

i've got the same question. i have this stubborn pocket of fat on my upper inner thighs thats makes me wanna commit arson

I know a lot of people don’t like that but I think it’s pretty tbh

High restricting is the way for me because slow and steady wins the race. As far as I'm concerned, as long as you end the day on a calorie deficit, you have won.

Height: 5 foot 7 / 171cms,
Highest Weight: 180 pounds / 82 kgs, (BMI 28.0)
Lowest Weight: 85 pounds / 39 kgs, (BMI 13.3)

ULTIMATE GOAL WEIGHT (again): 85 pounds / 39 kgs OR LOWER!!!

I get mine anywhere under 20.5-21BMI
5 ft, small frame, hourglass, my legs are straight alignment

There are a lot more factors than just weight. Your pelvis shape, hip width, leg alignment (ie straight, knock knees or bow legged) body shape etc.

Some people get a thigh gap at BMI in the 20s, some people don’t have one at BMI 12 it’s more about bone structure than anything else

can i just say that i love that social distancing is being used as an adjective now haha

 

a year and a half ago we would have no idea what that was and would never use it as an adjective

I have a thigh gap at BMI 19 so I do think it’s genetic. at BMI 15 my thighs are only 2 inches smaller than BMI 19 which just constantly annoys me. I feel your pain because I look hurrendous from the hips up like every bone is visible my back looks scarey but my legs look normal and it’s now a fixation I obsess about it drives me mad!!! Legs and ass just go away!

I'm like that and even my butt will go disappear and painful to sit but legs nah they like to stick around...honestly might be my excessive exercise though

I always have? My highest BMI is 17 tho so not sure about higher but I always have a thigh gap even my post IP forced weight gain last year up to the borderline point of under-healthy weight

PLEASE!! THIS IS MY PERSONAL PLEA: DON’T SAY THINGS LIKE “if your BMI is true you need to be hospitalised” or “if your signature is still accurate...” because A. yes? It’s still accurate? It says updated on JUNE 2021, which is like...literally what today is B. why would you think it’s not true? Why do I need to lie on an anonymous site? It’s exactly because I can’t talk about my ED IRL so I have to go online... I’m already struggling & hurting so much, just like how you are too. Imagine you having no support whatsoever, go online to find an outlet, only being questioned for your credibility about your stats and posts, how would you feel? C. yes it might seem low but my highest ever BMI was around 17, I’m premature and have multiple medical conditions that made me weight less/can’t eat much even prior my ED. So yea, 13 is not that bad compare to someone who got here from a much higher HW.

I always had one until recently when I gained a bunch, think it disappeared around when I hit somewhere in the ~20s BMI range. However I’m at ~21 now (down from the high 24’s 🤮) and can see it beginning to develop (not a “full” gap, they still touch at the very top and between my knees when my feet are fully together.) Just the tiniest sliver of light peaks through.

Mine look like they have a big gap anywhere under 17.8ish if I wear flattering clothes or tight jeans that compress them. Like jeans with no stretch. If I wear other types of clothes my legs look totally different.

I had one from around BMI 19. I guess having a pear shape body just means I have wider hips so a thigh gap can appear easier. Even at a higher weight I had a 'key-hole' gap

ive always had a thigh gap, even at my highest bmi (21)!! although it was only like a really small gap, but still lmaoo. now at my current bmi (18.5) its really visible.

Unfortunately everyone’s different.
I mean I still had a thigh gap when I was 9 months pregnant (was recovered then too) do you have a lot of muscle? My partners weight fluctuates drastically (not an ED just a lazy eater sometimes) and when super skinny, they still don’t have a thigh gap due to their muscular chun li thighs! - not an insult there - running joke we have

UGHHHHHHHHH I'm a BMI of either 15.6 or 16.1 right now, not sure 1000%. 

And my thighs refuse to social distance, the cocky little bitches. Defying the CDC and all...  :angry:  

I'm hourglass shaped, I think. 

But it isn't the best feeling ever, being at a BMI of 15 or 16 and having thighs that literally touch 24/7 :(

BTW, I'm knock kneed :(

I always had a thigh gap even at my high bmi of 19.6. Although in the shower they occasionally touched at the top. I have wide hips in proportion to the rest of me, so even though my thighs are HUGE I still have a thigh gap.

i've always had one i think, even when i was at a bmi of 21. but that's because i have bow legs, so... even my knees social distance

I'm bow-legged. I've always had a thigh gap, even at my highest BMI. It's to do with how your bones and pelvis are shaped, not to do with your weight or how skinny you are. Some people can never have one, but it's just their bone structure.

SW: 123lbs // BMI 21.7

CW: 115.7lbs // BMI 20.5

I’m pear shaped it’s a struggle I know. But I find that actually helped me getting a thigh gap sooner because my hip bones are just so far apart so I got one as soon as I got underweight.

I have really wide hips, so i had a thigh gap even at 23-24 bmi. But my thighs were still chubby.
