I've tried to low restrict so much and I just can't and function in any manner. 1000-1200 is my sweet spot.

HW: 325

LW: 140

CW: 160

CW: 155
CW: 150

CW: 145

(post treatment): 165-  soooo disgusted, but that's what happens when you can't purge and are being forced to eat and not work out.

GW: 130
UGW: 123.7

5'9"

 

Diagnosed: Bipolar, Anxious, Bulimic- not always in that order.

Hospitalized, now in outpatient.

I high restrict around 1500 so I dont binge. But I also exercise and I lose at a steady pace.

Well my disordered bony ass has a hard time being consistent. I cycle between them.

I'm high restricting around 700-800 but I feel like its wayyyy too much food. I hate feeling so heavy and even taking my time to eat it makes me feel nauseous. I'll probably lower it to 500-600 or something similar.

Low restriction is just not sustainable long-term, and imo if someone is trying to lose a lot of weight and does low-restriction for many months to get to their goal weight much faster, I think their metabolism is probably going to be lower than it would if they'd done high restriction the entire time.  I can get to my borderline underweight goal weight with both kinds of restriction, but I think if I take a bit longer to get there by eating more I will have less bad effects once I'm at my GW.

 

People overblow it's dangerousness in the short-term, though.  Low restricting for a few days every once in a while is fine and probably would have few or no bad effects, and doing it even for a few weeks and then going back to high restriction can work for people.  Intermittent low restriction is basically what the 5:2 diet is doing, and it is known to be shockingly effective.  Having two or three low restriction days per week and then going back up to a high deficit or even maintenance has helped people lose tons of weight fast.  I got to my most recent lowest weight when I was doing the 5:2 diet.

i think a healthy middle ground is the best in my experience. i lost a lot of weight quickly on low restriction but i was more prone to binges and would just eat it back. weight loss on high restriction works best for me but i dont like how slow it is, so i basically work off as much as i can, i.e. eat 1000 one day and burn 500-1000 cal. that way you're less prone to binges, and dont feel starving or like absolute shit all the time
