My doctor is warning me that I could die anytime. My BMI isn't to low (about 15) but the weight loss has happened fast.
Is this true or is he trying to scare me?
I feel just fine..

bmi at "about 15" is extremely low. depending on other health conditions and what you eat/how much you eat yes, you could die at any moment. don't let lower bmi people on this site make you think that it's safe.

also at bmi 15, you've probably been doing this long enough that feeling like you're on deaths doorstep is your reference for "normal" or "fine".

BMI 15 is dangerously underweight so he’s right. Your heart could fail at any time even if you don’t feel ill. Sorry to scare you.

Mine told me the same thing at a BMI of 17. I think it has a lot to do with other things, not just BMI. My electrolytes were dangerous low. Yes a BMI of 15 is considered severe anorexia, so your DR. is right. He is not saying this for the hell of it. Be safe and get yourself medically stable.

Wouldn’t this be due to lack of electrolytes tho? OP do you take supplements etc? Have you had bloods taken? I dunno, my resting heart rate is shockingly low so I do worry about this too

I would listen to your Dr. Years of medical experience and patients outweigh anything a bunch of like minded disordered eaters could know

You can actually suddenly drop dead at any size, but yes, I have heard that BMI 15 and below makes you higher risk.

Expecually as you said you lost it fast.

High restricting is the way for me because slow and steady wins the race. As far as I'm concerned, as long as you end the day on a calorie deficit, you have won.

It's true. Please listen to your doctor. You can feel perfectly fine today, but tomorrow everything could catch up to you- electrolyte imbalance, heart attack, etc. 15 is a low bmi, and it's made all the more dangerous because of fast weight loss. Please be careful.

Yes, 100% true. Our stats were about the same when the same thing was said to me. I had a doctor say that if I didn't get on the next flight out to start treatment, my ECG was so bad that I would be dead in two days. Even when I got there, they were on the verge of deciding whether to send me to the hospital for a few nights to stabilize but couldn't because if they had, insurance wouldn't let me back in to res so they had to be creative meaning bed rest, a feeding tube, all of that fun stuff with 24/7 monitoring by a staff member and checks 4 times a day by nursing. I've even seen the ECGs they took during that time and the doctor gave me a print out to take home to remind me of how close I was to dying despite "feeling fine."

Thanks all of you for answering :) It feels good to have your support, and also hearing I from others that has the same "ill" thinking as me.
Makes me wish I could stop, but I'm definitely going to have my bloodwork checked

Yeah, I mean alot of doctors are uneducated about eating disorders and use the tactic of fear.. but they aren't wrong. Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in eds.

Over the years I've watched a lot of people die from this shit. (not literally. but whatever through the internet.)

When I start to get real freaked out over death it almost spirals me more.. I started having seizures and shit from out of control blood sugar from restricting and losing so fast earier this year.

There were so many times I didn't think id get back up.

Yes.
100 times yes.
You're in serious danger.
In my personal experience when I was BMI 19 anorexia fucking sucks, and wants to kill us all.

I am a survivor of sudden cardiac arrest.
That shit is no joke.
I legitimately felt perfectly fine.
Was having a wonderful normal day cosplaying, playing video games, ect.
Then in two seconds I was just gone.
My heart gave out, and I was so lucky that I was not at home alone for a change.

I went for residential treatment after that. But unfortunately ED's don't just up and leave. Because here I am hanging out in the 60lbs range. Destroying myself like a dumbass.

Ugh.

In short: Yes there is danger.
Yes you should practice harm reduction.
Even if you feel fine,
Your ED will trick you into thinking what's normal now, is how healthy is supposed to be.
So you should rely on your doctor's advice. Please treat yourself a little better. You deserve more than dying suddenly.

I have had seizures from this too. Scary as hell. I'm so sorry you have experienced this too.

Anyone can drop dead at any time, there are alot of hidden heart/brain conditions and things that kill instantly
The moment you take your first breath you started dying

Your doctors right. Especially if you’re purging or mot eating whole foods. You’ll get an electrolyte deficiency and you’ll slip into a coma while you sleep. But if you gain weight now you’ll probably not have any irreparable damage done to your body
