i know this probably sounds a little rude, which isnt my intention !! by 'normal' i mean medically. between obese and overweight, the golden spot.

 

but anyway, does anybody else want a weight in that area? everybody else is talking about how their goal weights are 90 to 70 pounds no matter their height and im over here, aiming for 120 at 5 feet and 5 inches . . .

(to be fair, my goal is dependent on how i look at that weight, but still)

 

i feel a little alone and invalid due to this, so if anybody else has a goal like mine, feel free to share ヽ(‘ ∇‘ )ノ

remember, if your goal is 70 or if your goal is 150, you're valid.  this topic isnt here to shame anybody for their goal weights, just to look for likeminded people

I wouldn't have a problem with being a "normal weight" if I actually looked good at it. But the thing is I always look 20-40 pounds heavier than I am so I have to aim for a lower bmi to look decent. :/

this definitely makes sense. ive only ever been bigger (my lowest weight is 160 pounds) so i dont really know how i look at a lower weight. i may end up eating my words with this post (눈_눈)

 

 

I think it's great to aim for a normal weight. It's not exactly great for your organs and stuff to be underweight... So I hope you don't feel like you have to push yourself to go even lower just because it seems like everybody else does it. <3

I want to be a normal weight... That's want I'm aiming for right now.

I spent way too long when i was younger yearning to be underweight and it just took so much of my life away. I just want to be done feeling burdened by my weight and at the very least just have an appearance of health. (Even though my eating issues go beyond just wanting to look a certain way :( it's so tough)


Good luck to you <3 I know it seems a bit isolating when most people here are aiming for extremely low weights (i once did too), but it's still a goal much similar and it's still something you can be happy to attain once you do

I want to be a normal weight... That's want I'm aiming for right now.

yes! i’m pretty short so underweight for me is around 80 lb, but that doesn’t seem practical or sustainable to me at all. I’m just aiming for the low/middle range of healthy. I also have some health issues so being at a healthy weight is more important to me than looking super thin

Well my first goal is a normal weight, so technically I do want to be a normal weight for at least awhile but I’m still aiming for underweight in the end because I think I will feel happier with that. Things can always change though, maybe I will change my mind as I get to a normal weight because I have never been a normal weight as an adult or even teenager so it’s impossible to know really.

Me. I feel I'll be very lucky to get to a low healthy weight and maintain that. Totally unrealistic for me to aim for underweight. I couldn't sustain it in the long term and I'm conscious of health risks such as osteoporosis as I grow older.

Yes, I love finding people similar stats as me!

 

My ugw back in the day was around 70 lbs too :') that would've been attainable, actually, if I was consistently starving myself, but my disordered behaviors were all over the place.

EDs can be quite competitive so being surrounded by people who have very low goal weights could make you try to have the same; I get it </3

I want to be in the mid-range of normal BMI, though my BMI scale is slightly different due to medical reasons and the middle for me will be around 18 BMI. This would mean a weight of 125.5 lbs/57 kg at 5'10"/177.5 cm.

Honestly, my GW changes a lot depending on my mental state.

 

I've been so terrible at weight loss and losing the same god damn 20 pounds for years that sometimes I want to settle. I'll say "If I could just get down to 160". It's only a 30 pound loss. It's about ten pounds overweight but most people's perception is skewed so I'd just look normal to most people. I'd probably look a lot better than I do now. 

 

Sometimes I want to aim for 120. It's on the smaller side of healthy. I bet I'd look pretty good. Besides most people who have been big for a while look thinner than they do once the start to lose. They look bonier. I'd probably look like I'm 110. 

 

Then, I'll spend a few minutes browsing mybodygallery, plugging in different numbers and stuff. I decide that the girls my height (5'5") look best under 120... around 110-115...

 

Then, I'll snap back into reality and remember...I've been losing the same god damn 20 pounds for years! 

 

So now I'm at point where it's just "get smaller". I'm aiming for 110 because, aim for the stars. I also feel like if I am aim for a smaller BMI and end up gaining and maintaining 20lbs above that then I'll be fine with that... 

 

I know 110 isn't even that drastic. Like you said some people want like a BMI of 14 and below. But that's sort of my reasoning behind my weight goals.

My goal weight is in the normal range. I haven’t been in the normal range since mid high school so I figure I’ll start there and see how I feel.

I'm 5'4" and I just want to hit 105-120. I can't imagine being in the 80s/90s at my height.

I'm aiming to be just barely underweight because I am expecting to gain a bit of weight once I try reverse dieting to fix my metabolism and hopefully maintain at a bmi of 19-20.

So once I get down to 99 lbs which is borderline underweight for me, I'm going to do something called reverse dieting which they actually do in some ED recovery programs as the all in approach can cause refeeding syndrome and also massive weight gain. I'll start increasing my weekly calorie intake by 30 each week, until I get to a healthy number of weekly calories.Slowly increasing like that helps to repair your metabolism and get your TDEE back up to a normal level so that you won't gain massive amounts of weight when you attempt to eat maintenance calories. The method basically helps your body slowly adjust to eating a "normal" amount again and being able to maintain instead of gaining because as we know EDs can really wreck the metabolism. Even with this method there is a bit of weight gain to be expected, but it's slow and no where near how much you would gain if you just kinda went all in.
