I am going to start my accountability thread here now :). I just want to get out of obesity that's why my very first biiiig goal is the 88kg. On October 10 I started with 124.5kg, that was also the day I joined the gym. So far I haven't gone quite as often as I wanted to, but I am still making steady progress when it comes to losing weight. Today I weighed in at 116.5kg. I did my very first Dietbet (on the dietbet app) last month's 4-week bet and am currently doing two more that will end Dezember 07 and Dezember 09, for that I need to reach 115.3kg. At the moment dietbet is a great motivation for me! My plan is to join a 6-months bet (goal: lose 10% body weight) after the current ones end.
I track calories, my daily calorie goal is 1422. I try to limit the intake to that, but on work out days I won't beat myself up if I eat a bit more.
Beside diet bets a high motivation for me is that my twin sister who had been heavier than me for quite some time has lost some weight (as I had gained some) and I want to catch up with her, she is currently at about 112kg. I don't want to be the fat sister .
I used to struggle with massive binge eating, but recently I am doing quite okay, binges still happen but I somehow manage to not beat me up about this as much as before.
I try to post my meals and calorie in- and outtake most days, as well as my weight progress :)

weight: 114.4kg
difference to yesterday: -0.8kg
total weight loss: 10.1kg

breakfast: 1 pretzel roll, hummus, 2 eggs, grapes (532 cal)

snack: too many almonds, apple, 8 seaweed rolls (515 cal)

lunch: rice porridge with toppings as before (510 cal)

total intake: 1547 cal
exercise: none yet, but will do 30 min of elliptical or other cardio workout today to get below my net cals for today

My sister slept at my place tonight. I was very excited this morning, she weighed 112.3kg and I weighed in at 114.4kg, so only 2.1kg difference! But everytime I am with my sister I find it so hard to not eat mindlesy. It's only 3 pm and I already went overboard with my eating and am above my daily calorie limit. My sister just left and I have decided to not eat anything else today, which will be doable I think :). I hope that I won't weight more again tomorrow, I know the number of calories won't make me gain actual fat but my stomach is so full, and obviously the food weighs a bit, too. I am a bit afraid I will feel demotivated if I'll weigh more tomorrow. And btw -YES - I already achieved the current diet bet goal! As long as I won't gain until December 7 or 8 I will get my money back plus some winning :P!

For yesterday, I went soooo overboard, ate way too much and fell back into my habit of buying junk on purpose and bingeing on it right away. Today it showed on the scale (115.6kg), gained 1.2kg in one day!). Today I am back on track though! I don't know the exact amount of calories I ate, I stopped half way through as I was too ashamed to admit to myself how much I am eating.

weight: 114.4kg
difference to yesterday: -0.0kg
total weight loss: 10.1kg

breakfast: 1/2 ball of kenkey with green pepper sauce, 5 chococini

snack: 150g cookie dough, 400ml low cal ice cream, 1/2 cup of pumpkinseeds

lunch: 155g cheese, 2 pretzel roles plus margarine

Dinner: salad, tortellini veggie soup, fruit salad

total intake: about 3000-3500 cal ?!

Hey ho, still feeling super full from yesterday, still I couldn't suppress my appetite and ate breakfast, lunch and dinner. I took a lax pill, but I am yet waiting for it to work properly. I have seen such a high number on the scale today and feel so full that I have taken a pill after months of not using them. Of course I weigh more, cause I have eaten so much, but still I hope it is also because my period is about to set in. But I am not sure about that cause my period was super irregular for a long time and only last month after having lost some weight already I got it for the first time in half a year or so. My plan for tomorrow is eating a small bowl of fruit salad for breakfast and some salad, maybe with an egg and an orange. I have late shift at work tomorrow, I might eat some salad if there is salad for dinner at work or eat some fruit and an egg. Last week I had early mornig shift from 5.30 am to 3pm, which eating wise was good for me. The last four days I was off work and had such a hard time with staying within my calorie limit :/.

Why Do I Need To Lose Weight?

  • get off high blood pressure medication
  • reduce liver fat
  • don't step into my dad's foot steps of heart disease, diabetes ...
  • feel comfortable enough to start playing rugby or another team sport again (and fit into the jerseys!)
  • not be embarassed when I have to breat heavily in everyday situations
  • look good and attractive
  • be more flexible (I managed to panick while doing yoga cause my big boobs almost suffocated me)
  • be able to easily thrift good looking clothes
  • be admired for my achievments
  • get more respect from people around me
  • be the thinner sister (I guess that is a petty goal but highly motivating for me)
  • not worry about not fitting into seats or be uncomfortable in them

Waaaah, short check in, just woke up to 114.3kg again. Eating below 1000 cal and using lax helped me get back to the weight I wanted to see. Motivates me to keep going today and hopefully soon see 113,xx :D!

Well done! It’s hard isn’t it. My issue is I restrict my calorie intake stupidly low as I’m so fed up with everything then fail miserably, but if I don’t I end eating crap, I can’t win really. This dietbet isn’t something I have heard of before but I am guessing it costs you which isn’t doable, for me currently but it definitely sounds interesting.

Yeah, for the diet bet one has to bet money. The bets are anywhere between 10 to 100 USD I think (I did a 35 one and currently am doing a 35 and a 40 USD one) with the last one I made about 11 dollars profit. As long as one reaches the weight loss goal one will not lose money and usually win a bit.

How does one apple and two pickles make 159 calories, I bought some gherkins today and they’re about 10 calories max each, pickled onions similar, are apples scarily high in calories? I have been avoiding fruit as I struggle eating hard fruits and tend to overindulge in soft fruits.

My scale is currently broken so I have to estimate the weight. And so I estimated 83 cal for a pink lady apple (according to myfitnesspal) and I looked for pickles in myfitnesspal and it said 38 per piece. I rather estimated with a few more calories than too little :P. about the pickles i guess it also depends on the brand.

oh and  i think 83 cal makes a rather big apple, I think normally medium sized ones are more between 60-70 cals

Ah, today I am in a good mood. Went to work for an extra shift cause I had to do some office stuff (I work in the care field and  during a normal shift there's not much time left do do the paper stuff). I had breakfast this morning and am about to have dinner (waiting for it to turn 6pm, told myself I want to have dinner at 6pm tonight  ^_^ ). I have decided to implement a new rule. I won't eat at work anymore or if I do, only food that I had planned and brought from home and only during my break. I find it quite hard sometimes, when I cook for the residents and see all the food in the fridge that I am allowed to eat to not snack mindlessly or eat high calorie stuff. So I think getting into the habit of not eating at work will benefit me.  Btw I am so happy, I just came home and weighed in at 112.8kg, 500g less than this morning. But now I am going to eat my dinner, 400ml of "low cal" ice cream :P. Let's see what the scale will say tomorrow.
