i tear through a shaker a day..no joke..warm carbs (pasta, rice, fries, etc.) are just an easier way to get salt inside me....when i binge i end up peeing hourly for about twelve hour every hour....worth the taste...not the time fml....salt is amazing though...a total mistress

When I was little (about 4) I found a salt shaker on the table and kept shaking it into my hand and eating it. Within 15 minutes I threw up everywhere lol

I guess it was the taste and the texture I liked? Idk

One time there was a salt block for deer sitting on my dryer at my mom and dads house. I licked it. I don't know what possessed me to do this but I licked this salt block meant for a deer and then I was worried it was actually poison but was too ashamed to tell anyone so I was just gonna accept my death like a woman.

It was just salt though and I did not die.

Salt licks are something animals instinctively seek out , so if you crave it, you're probably deficent in sodium or some other trace mineral, that's why unrefined salt is best, it has other minerals besides just sodium.

I used to do the same thing! I loved rock salt, I would bring handfuls to my room and eat them as snacks

I don't really know if this counts as pica, but I used to eat salt a lot when I was younger. Not just a little, but literally handfuls of it. It was constant. I was getting enough sodium in my diet as it was, and I had no deficiencies. It just kind of happened. I ate it mostly for the texture.
Now I mostly just chew ice a lot, which is a pretty bad habit (especially considering it is painful because of my sensitive teeth.)
So is this normal? Is there some physiological reason behind it? Or does it actually count as pica?

I did this too!
