I think family Drs can be instrumental in harm reduction. Doing weigh ins, vitals, ekg, ect. And stepping in if necessary for medical stabilization for example.

Of course some Drs are not very willing.

Family should also being asking question about a patients. Primary care is first line medicine. They have the opportunity to have open and honest conversations with there patients. A family dr should never hesitate to ask their patients if they are self harming or having suicidal thoughts.

This is SUCH a great post, but just as a minor addition: VITAMINS ARE NOT A COMPLETE SUBSTITUTE FOR FOOD, and while they are a good step in the right direction for many people here, it's important to remember that they will not give you everything that a healthy diet of whole foods will give you. They do not have 100% of the protective properties whole foods do.

So as much as everyone can, please, PLEASE work to increase your intake and incorporate more actual food into your diet. No one here wants to see anyone else die from this awful illness. Even if many reading have no support IRL, there is support here. <3

Sorry for bumping, but it's important to say: This guide is NO substitute for eating healthy and normally.

I'm generally a pretty strict restrictor, and vegetarian. I'm almost at the point of having a vegan diet; I agree 10000% with the principles but think I'd find it too hard to sustain. bc my intake is so low (though v healthy loads of fruit and veg lol) I do need to start taking supplements. This is really common sense if you're gonna stay with the mindset of low restriction - sometimes stating the obvious is needed. Ty op

Although your tips aren't better than actually eating food, I think that this can be literally life saving for some of us. I would follow them for my health's sake, so I suppose other people would/will, too; That is why I think that this text is fantastic, thank you very much for publishing it.
I also agree that it has to be pinned somewhere though. c:

For whatever reason I had stopped taking my vitamins for a while and I've been feeling like complete shit the past few days. This made me get up and immediately go take vitamins. I need to start doing that again. Thanks.
